Sorry to hear about your heating travails. Pardon my ignorance Fran, but what is a Toyo? I guessed it has something to do with your heating equipment.

I noticed that the community has come to your rescue. Good to know. Living in extreme cold with no heat can debilitating. That is an experience I have not had to bear. Yet! There is always a first time.

Cheers.

Edwin

A Toyo is a kind of oil heating stove -- very popular here.

The community is wonderful! Hope you escape the living in cold without heat. Glad I had a wood stove here to pick up the slack.

All is well now. I am quite relieved.

Good to know Fran.

Edwin

Oh no, Fran! Is there anybody around you that can help? Rudy

I live in a wonderful community. Two fellows came over with a decent wheelbarrow and brought me in plenty of wood. Another friend came over to help stack it. The oil company is coming to check my tank, and then the man who can repair the heater will come check on them...so I'm as fixed as possible under the circumstances. Thanks for asking, Rudy.

Whew! That must be a relief, huh! I've been without heat in not as cold as that far north, yet, when I lived near the Canadian border, in WA state, 12 deg F can feel really cold when the heater goes out. At that time, we had a new litter of puppies to keep warm, too. Fortunately we also had a fireplace, so that helped... Rudy

Oh, believe me, I am grateful for that woodstove! It's doing a pretty good job right now. Also, the Toyo in here is fixed, and I'm leaving it turned up day and night until the other one is fixed. Besides, at night under the covers it is fine. Was afraid I'd have to spend the day there!

Glad to hear! Rudy

I wish I could help, please take care of yourself.

Thank you so much! My wonderful community has stepped up to help.

Happy to hear, that's good of them.

Hope you all are ok!

-Mike

I'm okay -- just have to get more wood in here soon. Thanks for asking...

Glad to hear! -Mike

I know what having no heat up there is like. I lived in northern Canada for many years. Layers of clothes and, if the heat might be off for awhile, hair dryers and incandescent light bulbs near the pipes. I hope you get things working.
Jim

I grew up in northern Manitoba, the winters could be brutal.

I am in California now. My wife wears a parka and gloves when it gets down to 50 degrees. The coldest I have experienced is -56. Manitoba is a beautiful province.

18 F degrees here and I'been out with the dogs off an on with no shirt

People here would think you are crazy. I have been here 25 years but I miss the north. Winnipeg is still one of my favorite cities. I lived at Moose Factory, Ontario and then had a homestead in Matheson.

Grew up in Thompson, then moved few hours south. Not a big fan of Winnipeg unless it to shop. Too big too noisy, and too dangerous now a days.

When I was there in the late 70's, you used to see motorcycles parked and their helmets just sitting on the seat. We walke all over the city at night.

I am now following you. We have a lot in common. I love to hunt and fish - although I don't hunt much anymore because my wife disagrees with it. I had a bike up until last two years ago.

Me, too. Thank God I had enough presence of mind to install a wood stove out here in the shop. This room is warm, anyway. Only way to get warm in the res t of the house is to climb back in bed. Not ready to do that.
