How to stick with training and make it part of your lifestyle
Last Update: Mar 7, 2015
Everything starts with passion; Passion is one of the greatest powers behind all achievement. It does matter what you wish for in life – if you are passionate about it you will always succeed and you will always feel joyful and fulfilled, which in turn brings health and abundance. Unless it’s something you really want to do, no number of workouts you do, goals you write down, gym memberships you buy is going to do anything for you but waste your time and money. To be fit and healthy has to be something you really want, something you absolutely need to be in order to have the life you want. You can’t just get yourself into training or use guilt to get into eating healthy… unless you want to do it you will eventually drop the whole thing and relapse. Make exercise part of your daily routine, like brushing your teeth or taking a shower. Don’t even think about doing it, just do it!
That’s why if you do decide to get more active, get into better shape you must find something you enjoy doing for the rest of your life, pick an activity you will be passionate about or can eventually come to love. Therefore, it’s imperative that you try many different activities until you find something you love doing.
Fitness is for life, Fitness or should I say, staying fit and healthy is a lifestyle. It’s a journey that keeps going until….well, forever, as long as you can. It’s not something that one day you’ve reached it! You are never done and it’s never over. So if you don’t fall in love with the lifestyle you are unlikely to continue. And the moment you stop making that extra effort you’ll slide right back into an unhealthy lifestyle and climbing back up will get harder and harder. Look at it this way if you’re tired of starting over then stop giving up.
Sometimes just “doing the time” isn’t enough. If all you do is to complete the program and count the days until it ends you will come to hate it eventually and won’t have any desire to continue with your training. You either make it part of your life, or you’ll be doomed to keep going into state of healthy/unhealthy lifestyle. If it’s important to you, you’ll find a way, if not, you’ll find an excuse.
Some people find passion in running, they enjoy the feeling of been out there alone with their own thoughts and others prefer circuit training because they see it as more challenging. Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline. Others prefer participating in team sports for the companionship and team effort. You can find something that will be perfect for you which will keep you active for the rest of your life, something you will love doing and will always find the time for. That is the key to staying fit. Give yourself a chance to fall in love with physical training and see just how far you can go.
Enjoy the activity you do – celebrate your ability, your willpower, and your determination and remember the feeling, make it stick in your mind. Forget the pain, it is temporary. Forget the feeling of weakness, rather think how magnificent and just how amazing it is to be active, just move and be part of the physical world. That ability is priceless and that’s something you certainly can love and enjoy.
It never gets any easier no matter what fitness level you are at but it does get better, it always does. And happier, because you can do whatever you want with your body and because you know that if you can do this, you can do anything.
Don’t wait, the time will never be just right, begin your journey to a new you now.
