Which Is Best A Professional Looking Site or a Quick Blog?

Has anyone been looking at the rankings of their sites since Google's latest Panda update?

I replied to a blog post from Kyle about how one of my sites was at page 54,800, now it seems to have gone down even further, 57,400.

2 weeks ago it was on page 1, kind of makes you think what on earth happened. I haven't got a clue.
However, I haven't added that much content to the site in question, but it is the most professional looking site that I own.
Decent graphics - payed for.
All the SEO has been completed, H Tags etc.
Decent articles written by myself, 20.
Age of site 11 months.
Earnings zero apart from adsense which is a few cents.

What is really odd is that the majority of my websites are thrown up really quickly without a huge effort payed to SEO or any of the correctness that is required.
SEO experts say it's the wrong way to do things, I don't personally like paying attention to all the H Tags.
To me they look out of place, I prefer things to look natural but then again what do I know, it seems nothing.
Still all these quickly created blogs do make me money.
By quickly created I mean, the basic pages required, privacy policy, disclaimer & contact me.
I don't have an "About Me" page, not interested in that.
What I focus on is content, content and more content.
I put up 2 posts a day everyday, sounds a lot but you can set these up to auto post on a blog.
What I do is spend 2 days every week working on this blog and create nothing but posts which will give me 10 days worth of posts, that way I always keep ahead of myself.
This is ideal when you take a weekend off!
They are not huge amounts of text, no more than 300 words but I if possible I include a video and always pictures.

Now I'm not saying this is the way to do things but it is what works for me.
It has taken me quite sometime now to find what works for myself, by that I mean the way I like to work.
I have quite a relaxed attitude to doing things, I never say I'm going to write 5 articles in a day, not anymore, I just do what I need to do to enjoy my other hobbies.
It's all about balance.

What I will say though it does pay to learn how to set up a blog correctly because this is the very basics of learning about using wordpress.
I am by no means an expert but I do know what works and what doesn't.
Have crashed several blogs with using outdated plugins, having too many plugins working at the same time until the website came to a grinding halt!
Corrupted my database - which I still say wasn't my fault.
And have been hacked - Now I have a security plugin which prevents that.

Which is better a really professional looking site or a quick blog?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

I think your results speak for themselves. By what you've said in this post I would assume that professional looking or a quick blog doesn't matter as long as your posting content regularly. If you post content regularly you'll start getting traffic.

To answer your question directly I say throw up a quick blog and improve it as you go. Once the site gets to the point where it's making a significant amount of money you can look at getting a professional designer redesign it.

If you don't want to share your site because you don't like the look of it then get it to the point where you are happy with it that way you will share it. There are a lot of good looking free themes and a lot of giod premium you can get for $60-$100. If you are super hung up on design drop $100 for a premium theme you like and call it good.

The quick blog has a free theme and the professional looking site has a premium theme which is a payed for one.

I will be interested to see what people are going to tell you, I remember going to your site I liked it

Thank you.

depends what you are going for with your site to be honest

Yes, it does.

I think small sites can work and don't necessarily need a lot of effort building them out to look professional, (but they will still need regular posts), whereas if you really want a big authority site you should try to look professional. If you are trying to brand yourself as an authority on web-site building for example, but your site looks poor, well...

but really, "clean" is more important than "professional". Take Kyle's bootcamp site. It doesn't have a big premium theme or a big design budget or anything, but it still works because it is well thought out and easy to interact with.
