Hi everyone, from April 21, Google will be changing its search engine ranking system and using a site's level of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will have an impact on Google search results and, of course, websites ranking.

Are you using a mobile friendly theme (specified as "responsive", you can also check if your sites responsive on your own mobile phone)? If not, you may like to change your theme before April 21 so your ranking won't be negatively affected.

All the best.

Yes, Google is going to be including mobile "friendliness" in it's ranking algorithms in the coming weeks. Having a mobile friendly website, which most folks have who have built sites here at WA, is a good idea as a lot of people use mobile phones and tablets to search online. Offering them a good user experience for their smaller screen sizes is key to connecting with them and engaging them.

First and foremost Google ranks sites on the quality and relevancy of the content. They will include being mobile friendly into the rankings, but it will not be the deciding factor if you rank or not.

If for some reason you do not have mobile friendly website, take your time and find a theme that will work well for your website and your audience. Most themes these days for WordPress are mobile friendly, so if you're not using a mobile friendly one, maybe it's time for an update anyway!
