The power of gratitude!
This is my first attempt at sharing personal experiences and at keeping "myself" constantly reminded of the "simplicities" that have had immeasurable and priceless rewards both personally and professionally.
I compare my life to a wonderful road trip to a beckoning destination with an amazing journey of hills, valleys, forests, plains, sea side and deserts. Of wet tropics, dry hot and dull shrubs, suburbia, concrete jungles and many ups and downs. Whatever the condition and even though "I have control of the steering wheel", accelerator and brakes, I can only see a small matter of meters ahead of me each day and even less so at night but yet I keep going with excitement and the strong "belief" that I will reach my next pit stop. A point in time where I make it my goal to sit, relax and reflect on the sights, smells and sounds of the road behind and of the beauty of this current moment that I am at.
In saying that however we sometimes hit a block in the road, a detour, a flat tyre, a break down or simply an unsealed rough terrain in heavy wet and windy storms. It is those moments precisely that I used to dread growing up and yet it is those moments that I have learnt to smile at and actually enjoy and appreciate. They now excite me and give me a feeling of satisfaction, a wake up call of the "realities" in life and most importantly a cause and a true sense of achievement. I truly believe everything really does happen for a reason and whilst I control my destiny through the choices I make, I also believe that fate has wondrous and positive objectives set to protect us from unforeseen strife around the bend or a few kilometres down the road.
Whatever the circumstance, there is always fun to be had and an adventure from which we learn and grow. Learning this through the school of hard Knox has given me an inexplicable sense of gratitude for every moment of every day through which I have been blessed to have constantly received wonder after wonder, immense joy and wealth growth throughout my mature life!!
If nothing else gratitude was one of the strongest secrets I have learnt!
