Last of the Pool Days

When you live on an Island you would think Late August would be a great time for a pool. When you live on a Canadian Island in August in realiity the end of August brings a quick close to pool season.

There are very few WARM days on the Isle of Newfoundland. Yes that is pronounced NEW-FIND-LAND....and not NEW-FOUND-LIND as our southern neighbours like to say! No offense - we just have called it this since the beginning and according to english it makes no sense but we can always spot a tourist by their pronounciation! How else do you think we get all the tourist money? lol.

A regular day in NL is never too hot and never too cold, although in February when that wind is blowing in from the Atlantic and it's moist, it''s cold as a -40 Celcius in Alberta - that's when celcious and farenheit are the same temperature...-40 is -40 either way!

I have spent time in the prairies and it's COLD. But if you do up your jacket you are good. In NL when you let that moisture into your clothes - your done! Froze for LIFE, well at least for a good while.

So getting back to the pool; when you live in a cooler climate you open up your wallet to keep a pool warm. It's about $4.00 a day depending on what nature gives you for a temperature and that is with a GOOD pool heater like we own.

We love the pool but honestly the kids spend more time on the ball field than in the pool.... Maybe the best decision is to buy a stadium? But then again, the cost to heat is more than $4 a day!

This is a short post but my wish is for 10 more 80 degree farenheit days. The reality is we may get 1 or 2. God Help us!

I certainly miss those days

What causes you to miss them? They can always be gotten again! Unless it is the years that are the issue! I know myself at 45 I can't do near what I did at 20!

All good things must end!😐

Tell me about it....we had Snowmaggeddon last year! Trying not to think that far ahead!

I hear you! Ugh!😣

Thank you very much for sharing
