Monday Night Football is Upon Us

It’s September 9th, the first Monday night of the 2013 NFL season. Football fans got their dose of some of the most exciting games of this early season, and although the weekend is behind us, Monday night football keeps our gridiron blood pumping.

Fantasy football leagues are in place, Facebook is blowin’ up with fans defending their favorite teams, cell phones are going off, text messages, shout outs, video blast, OMG… Stop already!!! But it’s that time of year and I LOVE IT!

Sunday nights are full of highlights from the days games and top plays. We sit back and become the analyst critiquing every play, yelling at the television as though everyone on the field can hear us. We bark out instructions, telling the head coach and the assistant what plays to run. We disagree with a call from the referees and throw our invisible red flag in discuss. We stand up and run in place as our team breaks down the sideline to score a touchdown.

What the heck is the matter with us?!? Absolutely nothing! We love the game of football and we wouldn’t have it any other way. But that’s not the end of it. There is Monday Night Football.

We get up in the morning and go to work. Back to the routine. Some of us slap the snooze button on the alarm clock, others walk blindly to the coffee pot, bumping into the wall and couch along the way; others are fighting the Monday morning traffic, moms and dads getting cut off at the school parking lot, and we can’t forget about all those recovering from a football Sunday of beers and buffalo wings.

The afternoon rolls around and suddenly you remember… tonight is Monday Night Football. Not just one game, but two!

On the way home from work you could care less about the knuckle heads who cut you off. You stop at the store and pick up your favorite snack and adult beverage. You call ahead and make sure the television is on to the right channel. You get in your lucky chair and become the fan, player, coach, and referee.

There is no such thing as a manic Monday when football is in the air.

As an NFL football fan, the week begins on Thursday and ends on Monday. It’s like having four weekends in one week. You gotta love it!

So the next time you don’t feel like getting out of bed on Monday morning; remember, at the end of the day, it’s Monday Night Football.
