Dedicate Time to You!
Why is it so easy for us to dedicate time to everything else and everybody else but not to ourselves? I had a revelation recently about how much effort I put into working for various companies, with the notion of becoming successful one day. I went to college in order to gain more knowledge, something that I did need to do, in order to communicate more effectively. But I have realized that I was not focused enough on working to improve my financial future in the best way for myself. I know what would make me the happiest and feel the most secure is creating financial freedom for myself. All of the skills that I have gained over the years, kept being used to make others very successful and not myself.
Not that choosing to work for someone else is a bad thing because what one person may consider success, may be different for someone else. That road may seem more comfortable and easier because all of the foundation and inner workings of a functional business are already there. You don't have to invest anything but your time and energy to work for that particular company. Depending on the company, you merely just need to show up and work. In many cases the work is very hard, in order to receive a livable income and be deemed a success. This formula for success has never been attractive or of great benefit for me and has never made me happy or provided me comfort, less stress, job security or financial freedom.
What's worse is like so many others out there, I don't have any money saved for the future! I have seen the writing on the wall when it comes to 401k and social security and I'm done taking the gamble that those so called retirement plans will be there when I'm older. I had known since I took my very first job working for McDonald's, as a teenager that I wanted to be an entrepreneur but of course didn't know the first thing about what it would take to get started. Naturally, I assumed that I needed to go to college but found out later that, that is not true in everyone's case. You do however have to be willing to dedicate as much time and effort as it takes to your on financial success. So you see me now, today on this journey to success, finally making time in order to secure my financial freedom long before retirement. I have made the decision to put in as much time as possible in my spare time. I don't have any excuses now....I know longer have those obstacles that were in my way. The most important thing that I have to do at this point in my life is dedicate time to myself. Life is short! I hope that you make yourself a priority as well! very motivational. I agree with you 100%. We find time to do things for everyone else's happiness and success, but seem to always forget bout ourselves.
I have also refocused my attention to myself. (won't even say myself and my children, because my children are me), If I'm happy and successful then so are they.
