From Law of Attraction to Wealthy Affiliate
For over 30 plus years I have been confined to "the corporate ball and chain." Not wanting to spend thousands of dollars on a college education, I decided to become an Administrative Assistant to earn a living, while using book, cds and the internet to educate myself of how to become financially independent.
Throughout that time, I have persistently purchased program after program, joined countless number of online marketing groups, spent thousands of hours and dollars on software, books, ebooks, dvds, cds...you name it! Still, I did not receive a single dime from all my efforts.
About 2 years ago, while working as an Accounting Clerk, I lost my job due to corporate cut-backs. Finding another job was extremely difficult for me since I live in a small town where businesses cater to the military community. Needless to say, jobs in my chosen field are few and far between here.
As a result of not being able to find a job quickly, I lost everything. My home was foreclosed. Within 30 days of foreclosure I had to give away most of my clothes and shoes; donate of my furniture, small appliances, pots and pans to local charities. My biggest loss of all, which completely depressed me, was having to leave my precious cats behind.
I could only keep what little I could fit in my car, as I would end up having to move 806 miles away, from everything I knew and everyone I loved, to take refuge at my sister's home in Miami, Florida.
Completely depressed and feeling utterly hopeless (over losing my home, my cats and my friends, while collecting $700 of unemployment per month) I started the vicious process all over again. I began looking for yet another dead-end job, which would allow me to live paycheck to paycheck.
I remember sitting at my nephew's computer desk, searching for jobs and thinking:
"What on earth happened to me? This isn't where I want to be. This is not the life I had pictured for myself 30 years ago. I wanted so much more than having to work 8 to 10 hours a day to barely make ends meet.
I wanted to travel the world, eat at fancy restaurants, wear fine clothing, visit fun places, meet new people, drive sports cars, live in a beautiful home with lots of acreage, start a sanctuary for cats. Instead here I am 50 years old, and yet again, looking for another dead-end job. There's got to be more to my life than this!"
Right there and then, the words "NO MORE" came to mind. I'd finally had enough. I decided on that very moment, I was going to "somehow-someway" become financially independent. I decided I was going to move back home, find a job, find a place to live, and start a blog business on the side. I immediately turned to all my old Law of Attraction materials, so I could get myself on the right frame of mind again.
A couple of months later (with my sister's help) I moved back to Jacksonville, NC, where I was able to stay with some friends until I got back on my feet. After two months of searching for work, I found a part-time job at Sam's Club (32 hours per week at $9.50 per hour) to pay the bills. Two month's after that, I found a relatively cheap place to live - a falling-apart trailer furnished with a small table, two chairs and a bed, that rents for $385 per month. After working at Sam's club (part-time) for a year and 5 months, I was able to transfer to a full-time position at Wal-mart making $9.91 per hour plus quarterly bonuses and health benefits.
By August 2015, I was finally ready to start my blog business, so I began to plan everything on paper. I searched the Internet for information on how to start a blog, how to write posts, how to create websites and where to host them, how to generate traffic, how and where to advertise, how to use social media, etc. I started a Kalatu blog with Empower Network for $25 per month and joined their affiliate program for another $19 per month. BIG MISTAKE - I know, but everything happens for a reason.
Because Empower Network's blog has a writing plug-in, I started doing research to see what other plug-ins and programs were available to help me create better content for my blog. My research revealed a process for producing great content called content curation. It was this research that lead me to Wealthy Affiliate.
Shortly after reading what Wealthy Affiliate had to offer, I canceled my Kalatu blog and affiliate program with Empower Network, I joined Wealthy Affiliate as a Starter Member, and I began my training. After a little more research, I decided to start my business venture by promoting Wealthy Affiliate to earn some money first. Once I succeed in promoting Wealthy Affiliate, I have every intention to use what I have learned to create my Law of Attraction blog.
The rest, as they say, is history in the making.
