EU Cookie law: how to comply as a regular user?

We don't have access to plugins or code unless we are premium users. However; it's still a good idea to try to comply with the laws with the tools that are available. I have suggested to management that WA should include a cookie law plugin for basic membership.

In the interim, I've created a page called "this website uses cookies" and included it in the website menu. It's not the greatest solution, but at least it shows effort at compliance.

The text I've place within the page is adapted from online resources relating to the EU cookie compliance laws. It's my understanding that the law applies to any website that might be viewed in the EU countries, which would include websites built at WA

that is interesting as I thought it is ok to install plugins on a free site as they mainly from WordPress.

I agree. I have access to plugins at my other WordPress site(s), which is how I've complied with cookie law in the past. This seems to be some sort of blocking put in place by WA or SR as an incentive to join at premium level.

While I'm not too familiar with the cookie law you're talking about, you mentioned not having access to plugins as a free user. You have full access to plugins and aren't restricted with your coding as a free user here at WA. When you go premium there's no extra coding we get to use or plugins. They're all accessible as a free user as well :)

Are you sure? When I try to upload a plugin through the website I get this message:

"Oops! Installing Plugins is Restricted to Premium Wealthy Affiliate Members Only.
Extending the functionality of your website can be done by Upgrading to a Wealthy Affiliate Premium membership."

When I try to modify the code through the theme editor (which is a second choice), I get this message:

"Editing core Theme files should only be done if you are experienced in the PHP Programming Language.
By default, theme editing is turned OFF to protect you. If editing is something you require, please contact us to have editing enabled."

I don't see any other way to comply with the law, except by creating a menu item linking to a page.

As for the cookie law, you can put "eu cookie law" as a search term in google and get plenty of info.
