"I'm Behind"

I have been hearing this often when I visit the 12 month intensive training. Most people are asking for help in this forum on what to do when they fall behind. This is going to be slightly harsh, but what you need to not be doing is wasting time asking for what to do when you are behind. You have a list of objectives. Start crossing those off one by one.

I'd say the most important tasks revolve around building your site. The second month is dedicated to increasing your content efficiency. Obviously, because it is right in the title, the more important tasks are creating new, helpful content for you site visitors.

It is so much easier climbing up the rankings at WA by chatting endlessly or responding to posts than it is to create content.

I understand that part of being in the top 100 or 200 is for bragging rights, but what does it matter if your site is not progressing? Personally, I am falling behind on my blogs here at WA, chatting each day, etc. I am completely OK with that because I'm shooting for 25 posts this month averaging at least 1700 words per post. I do not have the time to do all of these tasks well.

Here is some practical advice I use on myself.

  • Understand that multi-tasking is "The art of doing twice as much as you should, half as well as you could."
  • Focus on one thing at a time. If you are working on helping people and commenting on people's internal posts, be focused on that. (Do not do this in order to NOT do what needs to be done on your site)
  • Start your posts for your site. I mean that you need to at least write that first paragraph if you are ever going to finish.
  • Try writing your posts AS you research the subject in which you are writing about. People seem to get stuck researching instead of creating anything. This just results in a click fest where you learn a lot and accomplish nothing.
  • Set aggressive goals that you'd barely be able to achieve. This is counterintuitive, but it helps me get a lot done.

Thanks for reading guys. I hope my phraseology wasn't too stern. I just want to see everybody reach their potential.

Great post Ernest. I totally agree!

Thanks Tiffany. Your site is looking great btw.

Thanks! Im trying.

Love it I think this applies to a big crowd here at WA. Keep the pace.

Thanks Peter. It could certainly apply to me when I started my journey in January. I did not know what to do.

I guess my point is we have to do something instead of asking how to get motivated to do it.

A good day for wading into your sites!

I'd certainly appreciate that!
