Accomplishments Thus Far At Wealthy Affiliate
Hello everyone! I have been a part of this community for nearly five months now and I think this is a good time to write an update on my accomplishments thus far at Wealthy Affiliate.
Over the past five months I have been writing 5 articles 1500+ word articles a week. They are well-researched, easy to read and (I think) entertaining. I have written 80 so far out of which 54 are indexed. I have used SiteComments often, and my site now has 220 comments. According to SiteHealth my website is currently 40% trusted by the search engines. It just went up last week which was exciting.
Oh! And yesterday I got my first organic comment! Which was even more exciting!
I just finished the affiliate training last week and am now updating my previous posts with what I learned through the training. Looking back at my first articles I can see how much I've learned and how my writing has evolved with time. It's quite a trip to read the words I wrote months ago. I feel like an Erick from the past is reaching through my screen and telling me what was important to him then.
I have plenty of ideas for more articles. I'm actually surprised that I have so much to say. I read every day. I've noticed that what I read manages to find its way into my writing in some form or another. So as I learn and grow so do the opinions in my posts.
The Challenges I Face
The challenges I am currently facing is not a lack of ideas or drive. It's more of an uncertainty. I wonder if I'm doing things the "right" way. I believe there really is no hard-and-fast "right" way to be an affiliate blogger; as long as we provide helpful, honest, original content, I believe, success comes.
A part of me wonders. I wonder whether anyone will ever read what I write. There seems to be so much competition out there. I understand that's why Wealthy Affiliate teaches us to target low-hanging fruit keywords, which increases our chances of ranking on the first page of search engines, but still. A part of me asks if researching low-competition keywords with Jaaxy and building content around them will bring traffic.
I read a Wealthy Affiliate blog post today which said that Jaaxy is only giving estimations. That a viable alternative is going on Google and actually search for the keywords we want to use and seeing what results pop up on the first page. If the websites are all authority sites then it's best to move on. But if they are forum websites like Quora or Reddit then it would be a good keyword to use.
There's uncertainty everywhere, it seems. Especially in business.
I know this uncertainty is part of the learning process. It means I'm encountering my limits and moving through them. It's a trip! Every day I feel more and more like a business owner. Just six months ago owning a business was the last thing on my mind!
I choose to believe that as long as I keep writing quality content while following the rules Ilearned in the training I will break through one day. I have set for myself a goal of one year of intense content creation. Five 1500+, well-researched articles a week. And soon some social media activity in Pinterest.
By the end of that year I will have approximately 260 articles. I believe this will be enough to at least show me whether this works for me or not. AKA, I believe by then I will have at least some traffic and some commissions.
Maybe I shouldn't expect this. But 260 articles is a good chunk of content. I figure it should be enough to get something going.
When We Face Uncertainty, We Grow
Regardless of what happens by the end of my first year at Wealthy Affiliate, I am already happy with what I have accomplished. I have treated this business with the dignitiy and attention it deserves. I work on it every day from around 8 am to 2 or 3 pm and then a little more afterwards. I also work on it over the weekends.
I have never had a project which I gave so much attention as this one. Working with Wealthy Affiliate has shown me that there is something I can do, and do well, with focus and care.
That in itself is a win for me. I'm a person who has had trouble finding what to do with his life and how to contribute. I know there's something for me in the world, which excited me and motivates me to do my best, everyday.
That is priceless.
Take care everyone,
Erick
