I found a good keyword/phrase but it doesn't read properly without a hyphen. If I add the hyphen will it be read by Google in the same way as without.

Here's an example <

Although the search engines ignore hyphens and dashes it is better to make the keyword make sense. Wealthy Affiliate How To Make money Online.
For instance, at wealthy affiliate how to make money online is one of the most frequently asked questions.

I'm with you on that - but the phrase I'm talking about is specifically for a post title.

Best regards, Eoinmac

That would certainly be too long for a title but I would use that technique within the article itself

Good advice - thanks.

The search engines ignore punctuation so hyphens (or dashes) are fine. You can also use other punctuation like commas, question marks, apostrophes - whatever reads best. Always write for people not the search engines.

Great. That's what I was hoping but I wasn't sure.
Thanks for the help out and best regards Marion.

Run it through the keyword tool and find out?

I tried that, and when I add the hyphen the phrase does not appear at the top of the results like it does without.

So I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean - but does it contradict what Marion said?

Cheers

Well, my first thought was what Marion said below, but wanted to make sure I wasn't "missing something" that wasn't logical, hence my comment. You're good to go with the hyphen then.

I think so ..... unless anyone tells me otherwise

I know there's a chart that compares what's available to premium members with what's available to starter members.

I've seen it dozens of times but can't locate it.

Here is the direct link to the banners section:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/banners

There you will find the download button and the code to add this chart to your website.

Cheers Kyle.
I guess the banner section should have been the first place for me to look.
Best regards,
Eoinmc

Click the airplane icon at the top right and click Banners. You’ll see the banner chart there (image below).

Thanks Juneyo
That's it.

Most sharing plugins will pickup the like and share counts from the last one you used. BUT, I have experienced putting a couple of them in and it started all over. So, it's a gamble.

Hi, PJ. Though I'm not sure that I want to gamble on this one. Some pages have a lot of likes. I'll have to think about it.
Thanks for the help out and for taking the time.

When I'm uploading an image I optimise it first, but I don't resize it. I resize it in the actual dashboard of Wordpress before inserting.

I'm wondering if it's best to

Hi Eoinmac, what do you optimize your images with?

Hi, Vonnie
An online image optimiser. It seems to work pretty well. http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Pages/Home.aspx
It's free and you can upgrade to a paid version. The free one does me fine.
I can also resize using the same tool, but in the past I have always done that in the WP media library editor.

The bigger the images the slower the website loads. Optimizing can help but resizing the image to close to the display size before you upload is better. Just don't make the resized image smaller than the display size or it loses its clarity.

Hi, Marion. I think you might have answered my question. My site has slowed down considerably - including my dashboard - I always resized in the dashboard so this could be one of the factors.
I guess I'll have to start stripping out images and resizing them externally?
Thanks for your help Marion.
Best regards.
EoinMc

I totally agree with Marion, of course. But, if you have posted a lot already, it might be helpful to try WP Smush. This will go in and scan for all images and compress them. Then, you can remove the plugin - don't keep it in there or it will slow things down. Subsequent to that, begin resizing prior to upload as Marion indicated.

PJ has given you a good option. The one I've used is https://wordpress.org/plugins/ewww-image-optimizer/

Use the plugin to fix up the ones that are already there and then resize the new ones going forward. Once the plugin has done its job then you don't need to keep it activated.

Is optimising the same thing as compressing?
If it is - I think I'm okay on that score. I optimise everything before uploading them to my media file.
It'll take me a while to resize the images alright but if I do a few a day, I'll get there eventually.
Thanks PJ
