Two ideas and tips for comments

Hi all,

I love the way that in WA you can write a page or post and ask for comments. However, on my site which is only three weeks old, I get all the comments within a short time of asking for them, and then nothing - as my site isn't really creating traffic yet.

It occurred to me that this is probably happening to a lot of us, so I decided that it might be nice to randomly go to the sites of people who are following me and leave a comment even though it wasn't asked for. That would mean they could have comment activity outside of when they ask for it - which could come across as less pre-planned - if you follow my thinking.

To do this, I go to the profile page of those who are following, get the link to their website and Bob's your Uncle.

However, I found that some members profiles didn't have a link to their website. I thought this odd that they hadn't published their websites until I noticed on my own profile that no website was listed. It was only then that I realised that having a link to your website on your profile page is not automatic. You must do it yourself. No big deal. It's dead easy.

With this in mind, I believe it may be in the better interests of members to ensure that they post their website link on their profile page. I'm not sure if there are other benefits, but I know that if I decide to leave a random comment somewhere - I need to have a link to that somewhere.

I also feel that when building a network, I am interested in finding out a bit about their gig in the event that there may be common ground and the possibility of building a mutually beneficial relationship - but again, without that link????
