Need Some Business Guidance

Hello, WA family,

Not too long ago, I was contacted by a company asking me if I was interested in working together. They want to know how much I would charge them for featuring them in a post or inserting their links on my website.

Does anyone here have any experience with cases like this? I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks!

Enrique

A lot depends on your site traffic volume. For a first timer, I've often seen prices of $100-$200. Doing it for that amount will give you a chance to see
1. How responsive your audience is to these kinds of offers
2. Whether you like including these types of posts on your site

If you do like it, then it will be a nice credential for future opportunities.

Hi, Jeannine,

This is what I was looking for. I'm assuming I would have to indicate it's a featured post, right? Could you refer me to any site that does this? I'd like to take a look at some examples to get a better idea as to the length/content of the post, etc.

From a business perspective, this looks tempting, and I'm sure it could be a nice credential as you said. However, from an SEO perspective, do you recommend I do it?

Thanks!

Aside from the other answers, Enrique, I would be leery of them getting free publicity from your site without you getting any compensation--material or monetary--from your hard work!

Jeff

Hey, Jeff,

Well, it wouldn't be free. I would either charge them once or join their affiliate program. Still thinking my next move.

Ah, I see, Enrique! Thanks for the clarification!

Jeff

I usually discard messages like this without answering them. The big G doesn't like this kind of thing and your site can lose value from doing it. I really don't recommend it.

Oh, really? Could you please elaborate?

The people who contacted you are looking for links from your site. That's all they want. Google doesn't like paid links.

Here are some questions I would consider answering.

Does the product or service they provide coincide with your site niche? How many links would they want to place? Are they one of your chosen affiliate programs? Would adding more links increase sales? Who controls the placement of the links?

Do you get traffic to your site now and are you making money?

Well, yes, my niche is in travel and the company that contacted me is a car rental. We haven't discussed how many links would be included. They do have an affiliate program, but I was wondering if it would be better to charge them once instead of just earning commissions. As to increasing sales, I guess so. We haven't discussed who would control the placement of the links, but I assume it would be me.
I do get traffic to my site, but I'm still not making money.
Based on my answers, what would you do?

So if they have an affiliate program are they asking you to joing their affiliate program or are they asking for you to have a special deal with them. That is very interesting. Have you check their affiliate program to see what kind of reviews they get?

If they would place links on your website they should be charged a monthly fee. Not sure what that should be.

The way I understand it is I can choose either one. I'll look into their affiliate program and see what's more convenient.
