Google, Bing, and SERPs

Hi, WAers,

I had been concentrating solely on Google and totally neglected Bing/Yahoo. However, I recently started to look into Bing to understand it more. I must say the more I dig, the more I'm confused.

A couple of days ago, I found out my results on Bing are far better than the ones I'm getting on Google. For instance, a couple of my posts made it to page 1 on Bing, although one of them ranked for something else other than my keyword. My average CTR on Bing is 3.8%, although it's a negligible .20% on Google.

By the way, the more I try to understand keywords, the more difficult I find them to be. It seems Google and Bing have different algorithms and therefore, rank posts differently.

I haven't made any sales yet and don't expect any for some time given the nature of my niche, but this gives me a little bit of hope. I'll continue grinding.

Have you had any similar experiences? Let me know in the comments below.

Enrique

Great post, stay safe.

You're welcome!

Enrique, I feel the same, the thing is no one can actually say what results will you get with a certain keyword.
Jaaxy says something else than ubersuggest and I'm sure other KW tools show other results too.
Google is just so confusing with its ranking.
I've posted an article 3 days ago that was supposed to be almost zero competition and today I looked in google and found it on page 10 or so. It is so confusing and frustrating sometimes.
I also don't expect commissions but would like to know with more certainty if I do things right.

Hi, Lenka,

Glad to hear from you! It's been a long time. :)

Yes, Google is so confusing. I've been doing some research to understand it more, but I just get more confused. No one seems to know a definitive answer. They say Google used the same algorithms Bing uses but they constantly change them. It was way easier to rank in Google 10 years ago. Currently, it's easier to rank in Bing as I see it.

I understand what you mean. We search for good keywords on Jaaxy or other tools, but then search engines have their own criteria to rank our posts. For example, one of my posts ranked on the first page of Bing but it wasn't for my keyword. I've been playing with combinations and I get different results each time. Depending on what I put on the search bar, my post can be found on the first, second, or third page or it may not appear at all! lol

Only Google knows how it works.

Stay safe! :)

Yeah, I also get better results in Bing. Google's ranking is a mystery. I've heard a few times that Google ranks in three stages (if I understand it well, like initial ranking, then after some time, and then after certain time again). I just don't know.
I've also heard that you shouldn't do any conclusion before your website is about one year old.
Well, it's so frustrating not to know whether you do it right or not. For me, it definitely is. I've watched Jay's webinars about SEO many times, but having done the SEO right doesn't seem to help (seeing the results now).
Let's see how it goes when our websites are one year old :)
Stay safe too, my friend
Lenka

I know. It's so frustrating. They all say different things about Google, but only Google itself knows how it works.

I also followed some of Jay's SEO webinars, particularly the NInja one, but my results haven't been that good, either. I wonder if it's because my site is not one year old yet. :/

Well, we'll see. :)
