Project Initiation Document: Creating Context, pt 1

The PID has several sections to it and looks like a bunch of busy-work; but if you're not wanting to work alone AND you're not wanting to kill the original vision of the project but rather need to communicate it well so that others' catch the spirit of it, then sketching out a PID might be appropriate for you. I've included an initial draft of my own here in the blog section, which you can see below. Keep in mind however, that there are tens of questions-to-be-answered in a typical PID and my sample only answers the first question: "What is the Project Context?"

According to google search, there are roughly 6700 searches per month drawing an estimated traffic of over 1150 clients per month but with fewer than 150 competing sites.

That said, this site will not attempt to reiterate the great volume of work already in existence that provide audio-visual education on cancer-related issues to patients, survivors and supporters. It is NOT attempting to compete with medical sites, pharmacological sites, or academic sites. What, then, does it expect to accomplish?

http://www.cancerribbontattoos.org/ is being designed to fulfil the needs of roughly 6000-monthly internet searchers, largely from within the English-language speaking world but with a growing audience among Spanish native speakers, who are looking for audio and visual documentation on topics related to:

• MEDICALLY-RELATED TATTOOING & (aka, but lesser known as, BodyArt)
• ART, TATTOOING, as part and parcel to Cancer Care, whether for patients, survivors and-or supporters.

Lesser known, and with a significantly smaller audience, is the connection of this phenomenon to

• ART THERAPY and IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION during and after cancer-related experience; therefore generally:

• ART THERAPY AND CANCER CARE

• ART THERAPY AS IT RELATES SPECIFICALLY TO MEDICALLY-RELATED TATTOOING
• SUPPORT, SUPPORTERS, PATIENTS, SURVIVORS, THERAPISTS and PROVIDERS who have a stake in these particular issues.

Additionally, as micro-niche social media networks are the next wave after generalist sites like Facebook and LinkedIn, this website is to grow into a micro-niche social media network which faciliates the communication and community amongst a membership/user-driven, by-the-people-for-the-people, bottom-up, community, which collaborates in its own education and which is pointed to relevant products, services and providers. (More of this in the marketing and earnings section)

This body of work is NOT common on the internet. It is highly specialized, niche-oriented and the need for it is increasingly. ANY TOPIC and its relevant images, audio-visuals, that can be connected to any of the above are game for this particular website.

While the data that is eventually drawn from this site's user-base may in fact provide useful insight to Macro-level Stakeholders, this site is NOT designed from a top-down, macro-relevant perspective.
