I use hostgator and have wordpress on my blog. One of my affiliate links goes to my webpage URL followed by the affiliate link to the website. I am promoting an adult affiliate

The best way to get your links to work is to use this lesson that Kyle created. It made it real easy for me to follow

Hi team, I seem to be struggling with the same problem. I have tried all manner of versions using search from WA and clickbank to no avail. I am linking to a word as per Kyle's video but nah! Pasting them directly into the browser is also failing. Even tried to paste an Amazon link and I am getting a message that reads 'Not Found
It looks like nothing was found at this location. Maybe try a search?' within MY website. Any suggestions?

When you paste it, put it in on the text tab. Or highlight a link text in the page click the "paperclip" link icon and paste the link into the box that appears.

Mmm. Thanks Labman, I think this is what I am trying to do as per Kyle's training below. I'll go back to the drawing board and see if I haven't missed anything really simple. It was getting pretty late last night when I got to this 'obstacle' and I probably spent a little too much 'tired time' trying to get it right. Appreciate you taking the time to help. Will keep you posted.

Got the problem fixed. THanks everyone for your input!

Hello Eliz. I had the same problem for a while. I resolved it. Are placing the link in your HTML text view or linking to a word? If you are linking to a word which was my problem, you will have to get a link from the affiliate that has http://theiraddress.Com at the beginning. Or go to one of the affiliates page and see if they have a link to this page tab. Select that. WordPress kept putting my website at the beginning of the link after I inserted it. Let me know? It took me several days to figure it out.

Thanks. I actually got it resolved. It was a tiny error with the link they sent me. And yes, that's exactly what mine was doing. I guess I had to come here and solicit help for my brain to figure it out, lol.

Lol... That's what WA is for........ :)

This is true!

Wordpress.com does not allow direct linking. You are using a self-hosted site and are not on Wordpress.com. You are using the software from Wordpress.org.

Links are allowed. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/online-entrepreneur-certification-making-money-level-3/adding-affiliate-links-to-your-pages

That's exactly how I did it. And i double checked to make sure just the affiliate link was there and not my website plus the link.

wordpress does allow affiliate links. let me see if I understand correctly, you have an affiliate link that when clicked goes to your webpage but should go to the product that you are promoting?

That's correct. My other affiliate links are working, but the adult affiliate link I'm using is linking back to mywebsite/theaffiliatesiteDOTcom. It's very weird. When I went to the wordpress forums, someone said that Wordpress didn't allow affiliate links, which I understand is different from me using their software on my own hosted site.

I disabled the sociable plugin that I thought might have been causing the problem for that post only. The only other plugins I use are the all-in-one SEO and Akismet. So I can't imagine it's a plugin issue.

Ha! I got it fixed. It was a problem with the link. Major facepalm! Thanks for both of your help :)
