Writer's block

I have found it harder to get back into the swing of things in writing my blog posts. I have not written anything in over a week (started a new job last week) and I started a post a couple days ago, but have a harder time just sitting and writing. I know it will come, but the lack of time I have to begin with is getting frustrating. I am going to attempt to get it done today and another one tomorrow to post later this week. Wish me luck!

What do you all do when you have writer's block and how long does it take for you to get back in the swing of things?

Hi, Elizabeth it can come and look for friendship, I have just gone through a bit of a slow patch.

One of the things that I find helps is just accepting that it will happen from time to time. The great thing about working online and working at creating a presence and online business is that there are so many things that need attention. So it can be an opportunity to catch up on some of the other tasks that need your attention and at times go on the back burner.

One of the things that really help as well is actually sitting down and doing some in-depth research about the latest topic of interest it is amazing how the ideas can start to flow from this process.

Writing is important, in the word press world it is what the foundation is built on, we are like the jugglers at the circus many of us have more than a few balls in the air. If you are in a slow period it will pass.

Honestly, just do it, the hardest part with anything is getting started, know that's easier said than done, but trust me, it'll get easier over time when you're just like, know what, I want to be successful so I'm going to do this

Thanks for the advice, working on it now

No problem, I have faith you'll be successful

Writer's block does not hang around me very long; I can't let it!

I have many articles on my 'board' all of the time and I have to do 'em! I get writing and it (thoughts/ideas/topics of other things...) just flood in and I am ready to start my next one (Blog for me, article for someone else) before I get done with it!

That's awesome! I usually have the same, and know will get back into it, just have to have some creative juices flowing. Take Care!

Dear Elizabeth,

I am working an exhausting full-time job as well and most of the time I find it very difficult to get creative with new ideas but here is what I do:

I start surfing the web searching for posts related to what I want to write about in order to get some ideas.

When a sentence written in a post strikes me, I write it down or copy and paste it into a text document for future reference and inspiration.

After reading posts on the first 4-6 pages on Google, I have a text document with around 800-1200 words.

This is where it gets tricky...

Always be careful to use what you have stored from other posts as something to build upon and make sure that you do NOT copy and paste the exact words of more than 2-3 sentences on your blog.

After all, you don't want to become a copycat but rather to be unique.

Moreover, make a promise to yourself that you will sit each day and write at least 200-300 words for your post.

I've just started doing this and I already have a 2500-word post written in less than 5 days and I am not even finished.

Hope this helps you!

Regards,

Xaric!

This does help, thank you and will try it out this week.

Hi Elizabeth, the dreaded Writers Block! Staring at a blank screen...arrrr. But what's funny is that you've actually wrote a post about having writers block!

Personally, if all the usual stimulus doesn't work, you know..a bit of surfing on YouTube or Facebook etc...I will normally get up and go out for a walk..or lately, put my trainers on and go for a run. How's about writing about a recent personal experience or something of that nature?

I wish you the best of luck..looking forward to reading your next post...no pressure there then :) Have a smashing weekend.

Actually I did just that and went to workout, now it's on! I have no problem communicating, but I am shifting my focus to a corporate wellness niche so I can streamline it with my venture but for some reason I am stuck with content. I am using a personal experience from this week, just need to stop procrastinating and do it already...lol! Thanks and have a great weekend!

The new Site Content feature that we have now helps combat Writers Block. Last year, we don't have this. I left for almost a year, and when I came back, I was surprised to see the new feature! :)

Good to know, I had no idea and will check it out. Thanks!

You're welcome. And yes, please. It is found in the SiteRubix button (light blue) below the Live Chat on the left. Look for the "Site Content".

I don't have Writers block but I sometimes confuse you with a lady named Gail here Elizabeth

Haha, so you have mental block?? ;)

You ladies do that to me lol!

I have not written a post for a month - shame on me!!!

I have been there a couple of times before and best to just get away and do something g else and then to returns the will to blog again

Paul

Glad I am not alone! I am going to clear my mind today and get back to it later on, thank you for the suggestion. I wish you much luck as well!

I will start soon but now adding WA pics to my site and they are so cool

Paul
