Sitemap as HTML Solved
I've been struggling for days on how to solve a sitemap submission error in Google Search Console. The error I got was: Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead.
I tried to check the WA files, those I found didn't help. I even found some that said that they bought a new domain and moved their contents there and problem solved. I almost followed this one but I cringed of losing my new domain name for that. I went back to my mentor and cried for help.
He led me to watch Kyle's:
Setting Up & Submitting a Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools
I did what Kyle did. Got the plugin, install and activate. I went to Search Console and tested my sitemap.xml, another error message came. This one is better.
Your sitemap.xml is Empty
I checked the comments under the video and one of the comments was the solution I was looking for days. They had the same problem as mine and they called support.
I did call support and minutes after, PROBLEM SOLVED.
It was crazy, a very simple solution. Why I never thought of that? Support guys, thank you for speedy replies and help.
I want to share this here for I know I'm not the only one who might be having this problem. I hope this helps.
