Is There Such A Thing As LUCK?
You may have encountered such a comment, "You must have been lucky to reach that goal."
Really?
I cannot remember where I came across the following definition of luck that I would like to dissect to see if it makes sense.
LUCK is what happens when PREPAREDNESS meets OPPORTUNITY.
What does this really mean? Preparedness? What exactly is this.
Wealthy Affiliate
Let me use our training here at Wealthy Affiliate to illustrate the meaning of preparedness. Here we are taught how to develop the skills to create an online business. We can define this as being prepared.
Developing skills alone in the pursuit of being prepared will NOTT help you achieve your goals. There MUST be an OPPORTUNITY in your life where you can apply these skills to give you a fighting chance to succeed.
How do we define OPPORTUNITY? In our affiliate marketing world we are in luck. There I go using this four letter word again. We are fortunate in that the quantity of opportunities we have are without limit.
Vastness
The opportunities I refer to fall into the vast number of affiliate programs that we have open to us. With these affiliate programs there are literally thousands of products and services we can promote to help solve a problem or meet a need of many potential customers. This is where preparedness plays a critical role. Having all these opportunities alone us not going to help us meet our goals. We must develop the skills to match up what we offer to those who are looking for what we offer. We need to devote a great deal of our time and effort to get prepared to meet the challenge head on and win.
That is when we get LUCKY!
We get lucky when we get prepared to make the best use of all the opportunities that come our way.
What do you think about this concept? Do you have another way to define LUCK?
Please write your comments below.
Cheers.

"LUCK is what happens when PREPAREDNESS meets OPPORTUNITY" is not limited to in WA, but also in offline world. A HR manager once told me that if you don't work hard because of low pay, when you have an opportunity for high paying job, it will not work for you. Thank you for a reminder.
Hi Tomoko,
I’m sorry if I gave you the impression that the luck I was talking about applied only to WA. I was using WA as an example since we all can relate to it. You are correct that it applies to any situation.
Thanks for responding.

Edwin, good morning, I define luck as when you win the lottery. :)
Yea! right! Good luck to that.
This is why I never say good luck to any one in this community, because it is not luck when they succeed in their goals, we got to work to achieve, however, many of us found this awesome platform by chance after a bad experience with other platform, or in this case LUCK!
That’s my take.
Stay bless.

Hi Elizabeth,
I love your take on Luck. Like you I also hesitate to wish anyone good luck. Except when they play the lottery or buy a ticket for a drawing for a prize.

Thank you for this insight. Your article really resonates with me and it gives me something to really think about and apply in many areas in my life.
You make a good point Edwin. There's opportunities out there - equally available to everybody. There's some of us who practice, learn our skills, and get prepared to take advantage of these opportunities, and other's who don't.
That's the way i'm understanding it.

When we see results, more so when others create successful outcomes, we tend to say they are lucky.
So without knowing the full picture, this could be a falsehood.
More like work in outcomes out.
Nothing to do with luck.
Is there such a thing as luck.
Of course there is, we are here are we not.
Hi Alex,
You have a point about landing on Wealthy Affiliate. As large as this organization is, I didn't know about it until by shear chance a member and I connected on an investment review site and stuck up a conversation with me. That is how I found WA. Rather how WA found me!
A better term to use is fortunate. I feel fortunate that I landed in WA.
