Google Will Rank You High If You Write A Compelling Post - See My Example About Singers

Hello Folks,

[Partha gave me a masterclass on a major flaw in my post. You should read his response. I wrote this part in brackets after reading his critique. You will learn a valuable point from Partha just like I did. I’m going to junk this post and edit it with a different keyword.]

I used AI to generate a post to help struggling young singers create additional income through affiliate marketing . Naturally, I edited it where necessary, but in general the AI result was so good I decided to keep most of it.

In addition to creating supporting affiliate income I also showed the young singer how they can boost their career through affiliate networking.

My post was published two days ago. Google decided to rank it #1 using the keyword I used: Young Singers And Affiliate Marketing.

I'd like to know if you entered this in Google Search will it appear for you in the listings that follow. What I get doesn't mean others will get the same result. Since this post is so new it may not appear in other search engines yet.

Apart from the featured picture I didn't use any more pics. This was the first time I took this approach. Instead, I used my headlines to lead the singer to find relevant answers.

I don't normally post URLs from my website here. However, some members may find it helpful to see what I did.

https://affiliatemarketingforleaders.com/young-singers-and-affiliate-marketing/

My next step is to promote the post because I am not going to rely on young singers finding my article just because Google ranked it high. But it is a good stepping stone to develop further.

If you have any comments or questions, please ask and I will respond promptly.

Cheers.

Edwin

Hey Edwin,

If you don't mind I'm going to "tear this post apart" a little?

BUT

Because I like you I promise to do it in a nice way, LOL.

Okay, this is something that I have tried to teach for many years now.

In the simplest terms, ALL articles written should focus on a keyword that people in your niche

ARE ACTUALLY SEARCHING FOR.

What you have done here, and what MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY people do is to focus on a keyword that

YOU WANT TO WRITE ABOUT.

PLus, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that a young singer would EVER search for the term

Young Singers and Affiliate Marketing

I would hazard a guess that most young singers don't even know what Affiliate Marketing is.

Realistically, if a Young Singer is looking to make some money they are more likely to search for terms such as:

How to make money as a singer?

Where Can I Find Singing Gigs That Will Pay Me?

What Can I Do to Earn Money on the SIde of My Singing Gigs?

Is Busking Worth it?

Where Can I Get Paid to Sing?

So, a young singer, and their aim to earn money will ALWAYS be focused around singing.

Not a single other thought would have entered their head.

However, if you could rank for one of these search terms that YOUNG SINGERS ARE SEARCHING FOR, THEN you could "steer" them towards affiliate marketing as a potential source of income.

In other words, because they DON'T KNOW about affiliate marketing you must FIRST peak their interest by discussing "ways to make money as a young singer" and THEN steer them towards affiliate marketing.

Therefore, they are unlikely to find your article because "it's ranking in Google".

Now, let's look at this "ranking".

Again, this is something I have spoken about MANY times before.

Let me give you a really over-the-top example:

I write an article titled:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz and affiliate marketing

The very SECOND that article gets INDEXED it will rank at NUMBER ONE ON GOOGLE for the search term:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz and affiliate marketing

Now, really, realy, really, really think about this:

Out of the 8,000,000,000 + people in the world

AND

Out of the 5,000,000,000+ people on the internet

HOW MANY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO GO TO GOOGLE AND SEARCH FOR:

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz and affiliate marketing

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say

NONE

So essentially, you are "ranking" (and I use that term very loosely) for a "keyword" that not a single person on this earth will ever search for.

So, if NO-ONE is searching for this "keyword"

How many visitors do you think you'll get from Google for THIS KEYWORD?

Of course the answer is NONE.

My main point being:

your aim is to rank for KEYWORDS that people ARE ACTUALLY SEARCHING FOR.

Sure, all articles can and usually will rank for a wide variety of keywords.

However, Google matches your content to what real people are searching for

NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

Read that again:

Google IS NOT INTERESTED IN BLOGGERS

Google is interested in providing their "customers" (the people who use their search engine) with RELEVANT results based on what they are searching for.

If you actually go to Google for the search term

Young Singers and Affiliate Marketing

LOOK at the other 9 results on page one...

They are either about artist-related affiliate programs, how to use affiliate marketing as an artist, or affiliate programs to improve your singing.

These are the CLOSEST results that Google could find that are related to the search term

Young Singers and Affiliate Marketing

But NONE of them cover what you are.

YES, I often speak about writing articles that not everyone else in your niche are writing about

BUT

The article still needs to be focused on a SEARCH TERM that REAL PEOPLE are ACTUALLY SEARCHING FOR.

I guess the best way to term what you've achieved with this article is a

"FAKE RANKING"

As I've mentioned, you are "ranking" number one for a "keyword" that no-one WILL EVER search for.

And this is the point behind keyword research, keyword tools, etc.

A keyword tool provides you with

SEARCH TERMS THAT PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SEARCHING FOR

That's the poont of blogging...

Find out what people are searching for...

Provide them with content that SATISFIES THEIR SEARCH

Again another really over-the-top example, I could write an article titled:

10 Pork Recipes For Vegans

I can GUARANTEED the second that article is INDEXED it will rank number one on Google for

Pork Recipes For Vegans

However, how many Vegans on this entire planet are going to to Google and search for

Pork Recipes For Vegans

I hope this all makes sense.

Always, always, always, always, always focus an article around a "keyword" that people are actually searching for.

Never, never, never, never, be overjoyed for "ranking" for a "keyword" that not a soul on this planet will EVER search for.

Hope this all makes sense.

Well, PP, there went my burgeoning diabolical plan then! Drat--foiled again, but I must respectfully defer and concur with your astute assessment. Well done!

Hi Partha,

Thanks so much for your valuable critique. That makes a lot of sense. I love the term fake ranking.

You’ve given me ideas to derive a different keyword that young singers would be searching for. What would happen if I edited this post under a new keyword? Would Google penalize me for plagiarizing my own post?

This post is not going to go anywhere so why not I do something about it?

Thanks.

Edwin

Hey Edwin,

I'd actually leave that article as is.

Here's how I look at it:

Not every single article that you write will rank or even HAS TO rank.

What you're trying to achieve with this article is to give struggling young singers an ALTERNATIVE to help with their "money issues".

I see no problem with that.

Essentially, you could almost treat this article as a "landing page".

Therefore, it's not really going to rank on or receive traffic from Google, so you have to find another way to "send traffic to the article".

As an example, you spoke abpout "promoting" the article.

However, this doesn't mean you have to "give all the goods away" with your promotion.

So, as example, you may make a Facebook post about the:

"10 Highest Earning Singers in 2022"

Your call-to-action could then be something like:

"Are you at the beginning of your singer career? Struggling to make ends meet? What if I could offer you a potential way to make money on the side? What if this had absolutely nothing to do with your singing career, but could help you earn enough money, from just a few hours a day, to pay for all your travel, equipment, and clothing for singing gigs?

Interested? Click Here to FInd Out an Alternative Way For Young Singers to Make Money"

Then again, you could write a series (topic cluster) of articles, which cover REAL SEARCH QUERIES that singers are looking for, and then having the same type of call-to-action for an "alternative" way to make some money.

Okay, as an example, and these AREN'T particularly good keywords in terms of low competition and ranking potential, but rather just to give you an idea.

Just going through Google Autosuggest there are queries such as:

How Do Singers Make Money on YouTube?

How Do Singers Make Money on Spotify?

How Much Do Singers Make Per Song on Spotify?

How Do Singers Make Money From Streaming?

As I say, these AREN'T really "rankable" keywords. If you check page one for any of these queries you'll see Massive websites, such as Forbes, ranking, so it will be very difficult to "Outrank Them".

So, you would need to find "better keywords" to create your topic cluster around.

However, as I say, you could definitely create a "cluster" around your original article, and then treat the original article almost as a landing page, whereby you send traffic to the original article from other sources, e.g. social media, other articles that target keywords that singers ARE searching for.

Hope That Makes Sense.

Great idea, Partha! 👍

1

Hi Partha,

Sounds like a great plan. I used to post links to this website years ago until Facebook banned my website. When I asked why, I heard crickets.

I’ll use LinkedIn instead. Even Pinterest. Any other suggestions?

Thanks sincerely for your recommendations.

Cheers.

I did a search pasting the title you provided, yet did not see any mention. I used DuckDuckGo from my phone.

I agree, Ai is helpful like that. I created an Ai-generated blog of 600 words that increased to 1600 words just by adding relative contentto embellish. Who knew!

The post was 100% free of plagiarism, as well, which is a plus.

Hi Rudy,

Thanks for checking. It only appears on Google since the post is less than two days old. I appreciate you checking some of the metrics.

Cheers.
