After returning from our cruise I kept the appointment with my doctor. The feeling was like de ja vu following the advice I got on the cruise.

Health Seminar On Board Our Cruise

I attended a seminar on board about keeping healthy while losing weight. The trainer who gave this seminar had an audience of one. Nobody else showed up. Hence he spoke frankly with me about my health at a personal level.

When I walked into the room he noticed I had issues. My stance and walking posture told him I was in pain. He was spot on. He evaluated my feet and selected insoles that he told me would help to solve my problem. I could use this for the rest of the cruise. If I didn't feel any benefits I could return the insoles for a full refund.

I Couldn't Believe That A Good Pair Of Insoles Could Make Such A Difference

I had problems walking briskly because my feet hurt. I also had hip pain. After using these insoles the pains had gone and I was able to walk with a firm stance with no limp. It was easy to verify if this was my imagination. I alternated using the insoles with not using them. The difference was dramatic.

I use these insoles all the time now and will buy a second pair so as to not have to insert them from one pair to the next.

When I told my wife about this she offered to buy them for me as a gift. WOW! Another guest saw me carrying the insole package and volunteered she found them a game changer and wanted to know if I felt the same. I did. In fact, in order not to keep changing them from one shoe to another she bought another one.

Planning Healthy Habits

The trainer also helped to work out an eating and workout regimen for me. In the short time we had he could only touch the surface and advised me to find a trainer at my gym to advise and monitor me. He also recommended going on a detox program to help complement the new eating routine. I bought that 21-day product.

What impressed me the most was this Carnival employee informed me the cruise company expects guests to pay consultation fees for the advice he gave me. He would get very little of those fees.

Since he had no plans to make working on cruise ships a career, he had no problem giving me his advice for free. He was a qualified trainer from India and wanted to see what it would be like working on a cruise ship. He planned to return to India when his contract ended and focus on training clients there instead.

He gave me his contact information and asked me to let him know how I was doing.

My Doctor Appointment - A Revelation

Back to my doctor. I see him every four months. Since I take several prescriptions following up to make sure the medication is working and I have no adverse side effects is critical.

Prior to our meeting, I had lab tests done based on his direction. After reviewing the results my doctor thought I was in good health but needed to take protective measures. Like making sure I eat healthy and exercise more.

He advised me to avoid long walks and treadmills. Instead, I should exercise on ellipticals and cycling machines. And use weight machines under the direction of a trainer.

This blew my mind. The trainer on the cruise ship gave me the same advice.

My Doctors Review And Validation

When I mentioned that this trainer recommended insoles to help me, the doctor thought that was a great idea. How come he never thought of this first I thought. It was reassuring to get his validation.

He also reviewed the 21-day detox products and told me I could safely take them as they would not have adverse reactions to my medications.

Want To Lose Weight? Go On A Cruise - If You Dare!

One more thing. I had lost weight after the cruise! I couldn't believe that. When I looked back at what I ate, I never overindulged. Unlike at home, I always ate breakfast on the ship. The cruise trainer told me it was important to eat a big breakfast with a smaller lunch and dinner. Light snacks of fruits and vegetables in between meals were also good.

Don't neglect your health. Good health is a prerequisite to running a profitable business. See your doctor if you have health issues and concerns. Be candid when you ask for advice.

My wife and I are now working on weekly menus to help us stay healthy and lose weight too.

I've shared pictures of us at dining tables on the cruise. Here is a picture taken after the last formal night two days before the end of the cruise. I could lose a few more pounds don't you think? Now, my wife, she's perfect!
