Fran Kelso - My Wealthy Affiliate Connection in Alaska
Many of our members know Fran Kelso who’s very active on the WA Forums. When I informed her I would be cruising to Alaska Fran hoped she could fly to Juneau from where she lives. That was the closest city on our tour.
The cost of flying was prohibitive. I thsnked Fran for her kind thought and I suggested I call her on the phone and have a chat.
I gave Fran a call from Mendenhall Glacier on a perfect day. It was sunny with just a few clouds in the sky. We chatted for 13 minutes and this was the highlight of my day. Even better than seeing the Mendenhall Glacier. It was awesome to hear Fran’s voice.
Sadly I missed calling Fran again when we visited the last Canadian city Ketchikan. So many things were happening and I plain forgot. Sorry Fran!
We talked about my impression of Alaska. It is a magnificent state. If you like wildlife and the outdoors there is no better place to visit.
In my opinion you’ll have to make the trip before darkness takes over.
I’m going to dedicate this post to Fran and cover our Juneau adventure on my next post.
The cover picture shows all the cities we visited in Alaska, and one in Canada, Prince Rupert.
Cheers!
Edwin

Of course, I had to read this post, Edwin, since you included my name right in the title. I am so glad you have had the chance to see a bit of this beautiful place, and that your cruise has been so successful.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
I'm thinking about visiting at the start of next summer Fran, so please leave the key under the doormat for me my friend! :-))
Hi Fran,
Now I can see why you wouldn’t like to live anywhere else. Alaska for the most part is so pristine. It still has the pioneer spirit around.
Since we couldn’t meet in person I feel talking with you with the Mendenhall Glacier in front of me was the perfect time. Sorry I didn’t call you from Ketchikan, the last Alaskan city we visited. I underestimated the power of my wife keeping me busy!
Thanks for commenting.
Edwin
Well, that should teach you -- never underestimate the power of a wife.
Sorry we couldn't have a face-to-face meeting, but so glad you called! It was the high point of the day. ..and I'm so glad you did get to meet a bit of Alaska face-to-face! Edwin, do you have a copy of my book, "Alaskan Atitudes"? If not, will send you one. Just need your home address. You can email it to me if you wish...frantastick@yahoo.com.
Hi Fran,
Is that the book that reads like a compendium of everything Alaska? I’ll be home this Sunday and I’ll check if I have it and will let you know.
This evening is the Captain’s Feast where we all dress up in formal clothes. Good occasion for formal pics. I’ve already decided what I’ll pick from the menu. Cream of Broccoli soup, lobster tail and jumbo shrimp for the entree. And what else but baked Alaska for desert ha!
Today also happens to be Mary’s Birthday. Very fitting for a formal night.
We’ll be packing most of our things tonight but no later than tomorrow afternoon when our luggage will be picked up outside our cabins. These two weeks flew by just like I expected.
All the best.
Edwin
Bet that made her day too, Edwin!!
Fran has written a couple of books, of which I own two.
One of them, Alaskan Attitudes, is a fabulous story of her journey when she first moved to an Island on Alaska.
Rudy
Hi Rudy,
I wish I had the time to fly to her island. It was great chatting while I was on Frans home turf as it were.
Last year I bought two of Frans books and a piece of jewelry. She’s a very talented individual.
Thanks for commenting.
Edwin
Yes! I also bought a couple of pieces of her jewelry. We had planned to drive to Alaska from Washington state, but the borders were still closed then. Perhaps later this year, we will make the trip to Alaska and to visit Fran as well!
Rudy
Great Trip and great stories thanks again for sharing your cruise trip to Alaska..Many thanks and regards

Sorry you didn't get to see Fran in person Edwin but I bet that you both had a wonderful quick chat on the phone!
Alaska certainly sounds like a fantastic place to visit, actually... I am contemplating spending next summer there in order to escape the extreme heat we get here!
Have a safe trip back my friend!
Hi Nick,
While watching the iconic Mendenhall Glacier was the best occasion to chat with Fran. I was able to share my excitement with her.
Cheers!
Edwin
I bet it was awesome my friend! :-)
