Paying Attention to Affiliate Program Changes

I receive emails on a regular basis from the various affiliate programs that I'm a part of. Most emails are informative and offer tips for helping to increase your commissions.

However, there are the occasional messages that may come in notifying me that the affiliate program has switched affiliate networks. That means that your affiliate links will stop working unless you sign up to the new affiliate network and get your new affiliate links.

If you get a lot of email like I do, it is easy to overlook these messages. In the past couple of months, two affiliate programs that I am a part of have moved to a different affiliate network.

One of the products I don't promote heavily but I knew it was important to get those new affiliate links. I already had an account on the new affiliate network they switched over to so all that I had to do was reapply to the affiliate program.

Once I was approved, I copied my new affiliate link and updated my old affiliate link on my website.

Thank goodness I did because even though the product isn't one that I recommend often, when I logged in recently to check if there were any commissions, there was!

Update Your Affiliate Links Easily

Affiliate programs don't make major changes that often (in my experience) but it can happen so it's important to pay attention to all messages that you receive.

Most will alert you in enough time so that you can make the transition as well.

Another thing to keep in mind is changing affiliate links can be a major hassle if you're not using a plugin or service that lets you update your links in one place.

The Pretty Links plugin is one such solution that can make make managing your affiliate links easier. Especially when there is a change to a link. You won't have to change your links manually on every page you have them on.

Rather, you can update the link in one place and it will update throughout your entire website.

Closing Thoughts

I just wanted to share this because it is so easy to miss the emails that come in when you are a part of various affiliate programs. It is also easy to put off updating affiliate links if it is for products that you don't heavily promote.

Don't let potential commissions pass you by! Have you had to update any affiliate links lately?

Great information and thanks for sharing that!

WA has also taught us to create Review page for every product or program we promote and put affiliate links there where all other relevant posts we create can be linked to. That way, we only need to change our affiliate links there in the review post in the event affiliate programs have changed ownership etc. But not on every post/post.

Hi Pio! Yes, that is also another great way to help manage affiliate links and not have to change them on every post. Thanks for stopping by!

Hi, Eartha

That’s great information!

Thanks for the heads up!
Frank

Thank you, Frank! I'm glad it was helpful!

Great reminder, Eartha. As affiliate marketers, we can't afford to leave money on the table by failing to update our affiliate links.

Thank you, Dada! Thank you for reading!

Thanks for the reminder. Like everything else on this WA journey, if we do not do it ourselves, it will not get done.

Alex

Absolutely, Alex, and thanks for reading!

Good to know. Thanks for the tip.

Susan

No problem, Susan! Thanks for reading!
