Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don't. That's just life.
I am not only talking about life in the Internet space. I am talking about life in general.
Sometimes you have days where nothing goes wrong.
Then you have those days where nothing goes right.
I have had my share of both. I would assume you have as well.
Despite the bad, I have a true belief that things can be better in the next chapter.
This is my story of where I have come and where I am going in the next chapter of my life.
My New Chapter in Life - Life was great in the beginning
I am not a negative person, so don't let any of the bad stuff fool you. I am actually one of the most positive people you will ever meet. At least, that's what a lot of people tell me :)
However, I have gone through a long stretch of, let's just call it, BADLUCK.
I actually have license plates that bear the name - BAD LUK, even though I don't believe in luck at all.
I started marketing online back in 1997. I moved online because I wanted to have the opportunity to market to people without actually having to face them in person. You see, I didn't care to do what everyone else was doing back then, like:
- haggling folks at the local Walmart (our team did this every Saturday)
- writing a list of everyone I knew and approaching them with my new opportunity
- vomiting (could have used a kinder word) my opportunity to everyone I met
- selling my friends and family on my new opportunity
That was not the way I wanted to build a business. It didn't fit my personality type, which is that of a Self-proclaimed INTROVERT.
Long story short, I did well when I initially started out online. I was a natural at getting my business out there to the masses and getting them to buy from me. I made money in multiple opportunities selling all types of products and services. Life was good then.
My New Chapter in Life - The Birth of Web 2.0 (Social Media) Destroyed Me
As I previously stated, I am an introvert. I have been that way all my life, and I will mostly likely never change. Curious to know if people can actually change from being an introvert to becoming an extrovert. Can they?
I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know the result of what being an introvert has done for me.
I FAILED MISERABLY At It!
With the birth of Social Media, I was forced to
- talk to people - ick (I love people, don't get me wrong - just didn't want to interact with them on a personal level)
- build a real profile on multiple social media platforms - not cool
- get people to like me by creating engaging content (articles, videos, blogs, etc.) - didn't think people would actually like me
- and put my picture up so people could actually see me - oh, how scary!
This was not my style, and it was not something I felt real good about doing. So, I didn’t do, or I didn't do it with the intent of attracting folks. I was just not very good at connecting with people.. so I told myself.
My New Chapter in Life – A New Story Begins
It’s strange how many of years of failure and the lack of achievement (from 2004 to now), but true desire to win, can change you. It forced me to get into a crowded market creating t-shirts. I must admit that it fits me well and I am earning money doing it. However, I feel like there may be more out there for me than this.
That is how I landed here, today, writing this blog post to you, sharing my experiences with you, and looking to make the remainder of my life much better than the preceding years.
Joining the Wealthy Affiliate community [and going premium] is exactly what I needed in order to get back on the right path and to experience a necessary change.
No, I will probably not become an extrovert. However, I can become the very best me. I can share with you the real me and let you judge me for that. I can write it well the success that I will experience from knowing you, from learning new skills via this platform, and from fully engaging in this community and my business.
This is the chapter that we all should be writing. This is the chapter that offers the best promise and the best life. This is the chapter that offers the best version of you. Write it well!
