Referring people to your Facebook business page from your profile can be a great way to increase visibility and grow your audience.

Here are some effective ways to encourage your friends, followers, and new connections to check out your business page without coming across as too pushy.

1. Update Your Intro Section

Your profile’s intro section (often referred to as your bio) is one of the first things people see. Use it to mention your business and include a direct link to your Facebook business page.

You could say something like, “Founder of [Business Name], helping people [specific benefit your business provides]. Check us out at [link to your page].”

This way, you’re putting your business right at the top for anyone who lands on your profile.

2. Use Your Profile’s Featured Section

Facebook allows you to highlight important content in the Featured section on your profile. You can add an eye-catching image that promotes your business and directs people to your business page.

This could be a logo, a promo graphic, or a special offer you’re currently running. Don’t forget to include a link in the caption or on the image to make it easy for people to click through.

3. Create an Engaging Post

A well-crafted post introducing your Facebook business page is another easy way to get people interested.

You could share a personal story about why you started your business and how it’s helping others, and then invite people to visit the page.

Make sure the tone is friendly and casual, so it feels like you’re having a conversation with your friends, not giving them a sales pitch. For example:

“Hey everyone! I wanted to share something exciting with you. After years of working in [industry], I finally decided to start my own business, [Business Name].

I’m super passionate about [what you do/offer], and I’d love for you to check it out! Head over to my page [link to page] for [a benefit or incentive like free tips, a discount, etc.].”

If you include a photo or video, it will attract even more attention.

4. Pin a Post on Your Profile

Once you’ve posted about your business page, pin the post to the top of your profile. This ensures that whenever someone visits your page, that post is the first thing they see. It’s a subtle but effective way to keep your business in the spotlight.

5. Change Your Cover Photo

Your Facebook cover photo is prime real estate. You can design a cover that promotes your business page and tells people what they can expect if they visit.

You could include a call to action like, “Follow [Business Name] for the latest in [your industry].”

Tools like Canva are great for creating eye-catching cover photos, and you can include your business name and a link in the description area of the photo.

6. Engage in Relevant Groups

If you’re part of Facebook groups that align with your business’s niche, occasionally share your business page when it’s relevant. But don’t just drop a link without context.

Engage with the group, provide value, and then mention your business if it fits naturally into the conversation.

For example, if someone asks for advice on something related to your industry, you can offer help and say, “I actually run a page where I talk about this a lot, feel free to check it out here [link].”

7. Mention Your Page in Stories

Stories are another powerful tool for referral traffic. They’re short, they’re fun, and they’re casual. You can create a quick story about what’s happening at your business—maybe share a behind-the-scenes moment, a success story, or a fun update. Then, add a link to your business page with a clear call-to-action like “Follow [Business Name] for more!”

8. Tag Your Business Page in Relevant Posts

When you post about something related to your business, make sure to tag your business page. This will not only make it easier for people to find your page, but it also adds a professional touch to your posts.

You can say something like, “Just had a great day working with clients at [tag your business page]! Feeling inspired by the work we’re doing here.”

9. Utilise Facebook’s Professional Mode (If Available)

Facebook’s Professional Mode is gradually rolling out, allowing you to get deeper insights into your profile’s performance and audience.

If this becomes available to you, you can use it to see how people interact with your content and tailor your posts to drive more traffic to your business page.

10. Leverage Cross-Promotion on Other Platforms

If you’re active on other social platforms like Instagram, Twitter, or LinkedIn, promote your Facebook business page there too.

You could make a quick post on your profile that says, “Follow my business on Facebook for [specific content or benefit]!” Be sure to include the link and a reason for people to follow you.

11. Add Your Business Page to Your Workplace or Experience Section

Facebook allows you to list your job or business under the “Work” section of your profile. You can add your business page here, making it another direct link for visitors to find and click on when they’re learning more about what you do.

12. Host a Giveaway or Contest

What is best way to refer people to your Facebook business page from my profile.

Giveaways and contests are a great way to encourage interaction. You could host one where participants have to visit your business page, like it, and leave a comment or share it to enter. This can create a buzz and draw more attention to your page.

Make the prize something exciting or useful, but relevant to your business, to keep things aligned with your audience.

13. Join Facebook’s Business Tools

Facebook offers tools like Facebook Ads or Boosted Posts to reach a broader audience. While this requires a small budget, it can be a quick and effective way to promote your business page to the right audience.

A targeted ad could be a great complement to your organic efforts, ensuring that even more people are directed to your page.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, you want to make sure you’re gently weaving your business page into your personal Facebook profile. It should feel natural and friendly, not overly salesy.

Think about it like inviting people into a conversation, not pushing them to check something out.

Have you found any specific strategies helpful when promoting your own projects?

I'm sure there were replies here a couple of days ago. Where did they go?

Edit: Very strange, they appeared shortly after I posted this.

It's Halloween shortly. Very spooky. 😳

Happy Halloween! :)

Good points, Dave!!

Thanks for sharing!

Hey DrumamDave,
Thanks for sharing this was a very well laid out blog and great job on your post i'm not a fan of Facebook but your article was a very good read. I'm glad that Facebook is working for you, So I have two pages on Facebook and one group but for me Facebook has a few major problems and i'm interested in seeing if you came across these problems too as i did read them in your blog.
So I just have a few questions for you.

1. now are you talking about promoting WA or your own niche website on Facebook ?

2. Have you run into copyright problems with the logo and material you are using ?

3. Do you find using the boost or making ads that Facebook is giving you bots and just taking your money ?

I only ask as i have been through all 3 of these questions with Facebook and i don't use Facebook very often anymore due to these problems.

Thanks
Shawn

Those problems are a bit different to this post, but to answer your questions:

1. Either/Or

I have a Facebook page as I like to keep it separate from my main profile.

2. No, they are AI generated

I tend to use either photos i've taken myself, or AI generated ones.

3. I don't Boost

I find it a waste of money.

Dave
