What are your dreams?

Have you ever REALLY thought about what they might be?

When I have more times than not I catch myself staring at a blank piece of paper in hopes that somehow those "dreams" I want will magically come to me or else I write down some nonsense of "make a million dollars" or "own a beach house"....

You might be wondering, "why would that be nonsense? Aren't those good things to 'dream' about?"

Sure...

If they were what I (or you) are ACTUALLY dreaming about... but it's not.

There is a great book called QBQ! which stands for Question Behind the Question by John G. Miller which explores how we as humans like to placate or use a facade to mask our true feelings and meanings for things we want, feel, or behave. It is a great book or anyone in sales but also for anyone who wants to explore deeper conversations and relationships.

The concept of this book plays in our lives when we think about our dreams, aspirations, goals, etc. too! Too often we visualize "things" that we we think we want or we thing symbolize these "dreams" of ours when really our dreams are a deeper, more human want than just the 'things' we write down or pin to our dream boards in hopes to have one day.

We don't dream to have a million dollars... we desire financial freedom in our lives.

We don't dream to own a beach home... we desire the peace that we find being by the ocean and the lifestyle we image that comes with a beach home.

So maybe we need to be asking ourselves what is our Dream behind the Dream? What is the driver behind those tangible desires?

Because when we know that we can focus our time and energy on attaining those dreams behind the dreams and might even be surprised by the path you take to get there. It might not involve those tangible desires afterall...
