The habits you perform the first thing you get up in the morning influence how your day goes afterwards.

The best time to get most of your work done is usually early in the morning before anyone else has gotten up. I know when you have young children, you have to adapt to their needs and their schedule; but generally staying up late at night affects how you feel in the morning.

Generally, it is recommended to get a minimum of eight hours of sleep a night, but that's not always possible. What really matters is getting that deep sleep where your mind is totally relaxed which gives your brain the opportunity to dream. Scientists have found that people who experience that deep realm sleep wake up more alert, then someone who goes to bed and sleeps eight hours but doesn't experience that deep realm sleep. Therefore, even if you don't sleep a full eight hours, but do experience that dream light state you have more energy the next day.

Now science has also talked about biorhythms, which influence when you the most alert and have the most energy. In fact, I've known several people who do their best work in the evening or later in the afternoon, while others achieve their most productive work in the morning. Therefore, you need to also consider and be aware of when you're the most productive in the day, and then make sure that you take at that time to work on the projects that you have that you need to accomplish and complete.

Here are some techniques to help you start the day right:

1. don't hit the snooze button when you wake up

2. make sure you stretch first thing in the morning

3. make sure to drink a lot of water

4. eat a healthy breakfast

5. listen to music that soothes your mind

6. take no calls while you're working

I am only guilty of the phone and slowing down on reading my ebooks...Will definitely start again..But God has blessed me with a good sleeping habit..I work the best in the morning. Sleep early and wake up early..Thank you.

I'm being positive when I say a great habit you've acquired Davida is to select visuals that are not too small to read!

If they were too small to read I'd usually made that part of the post.

Good words this morning! 8 months ago I started doing just what you have suggested here. I spend the first hour of the day in a quite place, listening to quiet music and studying my Bible. It has made a great difference in how I approach my day, my life.

I know this is not always possible for everyone to take this much time, but just the 10 minutes you suggest would be a great place to start.
