Quick Tip: Use Twittermonials

If someone makes a relevent comment about one of your blog posts on your twitter feed, you can copy it as an image (eg using Jing free software from https://www.techsmith.com/jing.html), upload it to your media library, and paste it at the bottom of your blog post.

This is apparently known as a 'twittermonial' and is a great way to add to the conversation when comments are a bit thin on the ground.

By adding an alt tag that includes your keyword phrase this can help SEO, too, even though Googlebots won't see it as a comment. I've done this a few times to help get things moving then, when some real comments appeared, went back and deleted the twittermonials. I've done it with Facebook likes, too.

The idea was suggested in a webinar - but I can't track the source to give the appropriate credit. They did make the point that it gives extra exposure to your followers' twitter handles, too, so it's a win win.

Has anyone else tried this?
