Glitches, Gravatar and Misunderstandings

So I feel the need....to blog.... and communicate my progress with you. I'm here nearly three weeks. My goodness! Time has flown by whilst having so much fun, with the best bit being the communication, help and support I've received from the WA community. I really needed to focus more on my website and training so I have been slowly but surely progressing through the lessons and implementing my learning, whilst also building my brand and thoughts for the future.
All did not progress completely smoothly though. I was super pleased with my first post on my website; I wanted to integrate a graphic but wasn't sure if anything I found online was royalty free. So, I decided to create my own. After much 'faffing about' (that could be an Irish term for messing about and getting nowhere), I created a bitmap of huge proportions (!!) and inserted it into my post. From then, my website became what I can only technically refer to as 'glitchy.' After much more 'faffing about' and asking my very first WA question, I (eventually) came to the conclusion that the image needed to be reduced in size. Hey presto! Sorted. And the best bit was, I had made new and wonderful friends from all over the globe who answered my call for help. People all over the world were checking to see if my website was loading on their different phones and laptops. I was overwhelmed and thankful. In the process the lovely Joseph taught me about a 'child theme.'
As I said to Joseph, "every day is a school day." Problem sorted and I moved on to the lesson where we start to comment on each other’s websites. I need a gravatar - what the heck is that? Is that not a movie with big blue people in it?

Well, that didn't go smoothly either. I released my second cry for help and registered my very first help request with WA site support. First off, you need to have a word press account to get your gravatar, and second you need to receive a confirmation email. Ah nope! No confirmation email. Rather than turn this into a book as opposed to a blog, here is the tutorial you need if you don't receive the gravatar confirmation email.
I am now in possession of same. Glitch no.2 sorted ;-).
And then there was the misunderstanding. Now, initially I was afraid it was going to be a disagreement. There is a rather disconcerting addiction to social media (especially Facebook) in my home and I have been making a concerted and dedicated effort to leave my phone out of reach at meal times and when my loved ones need to chat. My wonderful other half however was addicted to Facebook whilst I was networking on WA. One snapped at the other about it, to which I retorted "I'm working!" I got the reply that I wasn't actually working because I wasn't earning any money from it .....(yet!). Well, I was all annoyed and disgruntled, so I took myself out of the room.....I felt misunderstood and that I had lost my essential family support. But that wasn't the case. My lovely man said he was sorry and he'd thought I was also on Facebook and didn't realise I was on WA. He acknowledged my efforts and reasons for them....and then offered to post my website on.....Facebook!! (LOL)
Chow for now
