The importance of having medical equipment at home

Hello, members of WA. I know this blog has nothing to do with WA or how to make money (not in the direct way). But I feel I have to share this because that is my niche, that is what I am trying to do to help people. And that is why I will share an experience that happened recently.

If you saw my profile, then you already know that I am a doctor. But what you don't know is that my wife is doctor, too. And as we both are doctors, we have all the medical equipment for work, but we also use them at home. But as I am studying and working for my sub-speciality in another city 2 hours away from home, I have to live in that city for 2 years until I finish, and I only come home on some weekends, when I am not on duty.

Well, my mother-in-law started to feel sick from some days ago, but she didn't tell us anything. But 2 days ago, my wife woke up in the middle of the night, and realized her mother vas very sick.

Inmediatly she measured the blod pressure, which was high, and measured her breathing frecuency, and saw her mother breathing with big difficulty. Inmediatly my wife gave her drugs for hypertension, but she wasn't getting better, so she took her to a clinic. My mother-in-law didn't know she was diabetic, and my wife didn't take the sugar test with the glucometer because I had it with me to record a video tutorial (my bad).

So, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with an acute complication of diabetes called diabetic ketoacidosis, was admitted in ICU, and now she is better, being abserved in a common room.

Yes, I know that I don't know you personally to be telling this anecdote, but my goal is to highlight the fact that, although my wife couldn't do much in the moment, but she knew that her mother's blood pressure was high, and the breathing was difficult, thanks to the equipment, and tried to do something to gain time for her mother's life until getting help.

I know what you are thinking right now: "your wife is a doctor. She knew what to do becaues of that". But let me tell you that YOU can do it too, and without having much Medicine knowledge, and that is what I am trying to teach, because every second is valuable in an emergency, and although you can't do that much, but at least you can guide the paramedics about your relative's vitas signs.

So, having said that, I invite you to visit my website http://www.jachomemedicals.com, read the tutorials to learn about vital signs and medical equipment for their measurement, leave a comment if you don't understand something. And if you are interested, you can buy your desired instrument by clicking on the links attached on each post.

Thank you for your time, and have a nice day.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jaime Cuevas

Thanks for sharing this Jaime! My bride is a nurse with the Veteran's Administration, and she has stressed to me the importance of having the tools at our disposal to handle a multitude of medical issues. Best wishes for continued success my friend! :-)

Great story and information, Jaime! Thanks for sharing! It's so great to reach out and help others become knowledgeable about medical emergencies. Hats off to you and your wife, too!

I wish you all the best with your site and your medical work away from home. Glad to connect and see you around!

Hi Jaime!
I am glad your mother-in-law is doing better.
Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge here with us. I will be one to glean from your website for sure.

I think this is a very important step that you have taken; to educate the WA community on health issues. That shows that you are concerned about the members here.

All the best and more
David
