What diverts us from what we are meant to do?

I've been reading more lately at WA blogs about :What is the purpose of life?
I took it this way: To learn more or to achieve your goals predominantly? or What are the reasons why we are not developing properly?
My opinion
I meditated more on the following words:

When man delves with his mind and heart into impressions and begins to lead himself according to his senses, then his soul begins to lead a life inferior to the natura one,i.e. pasionate.
When it dominates the mind, then the mind enslaved by desires loses its freedom, which is a great spiritual gift and brings the inner man into a total disorder.
The unusual senses of watching, meditating, and participating in the spiritual are drawn to all that can be perceived within and without.
And the man being in a state of inner disorder and imbalance, is not capable of a proper meditation, of a fast, and with all his desire, he will not be able to keep in check neither the heart nor the senses.
They all went out of balance in him due to lack of attention and a life spent without order.
WA way
In WA, compared to other parts, there is a wonderful community that helps us stay on the right path.
