Hi Randy, I’m glad to see it’s not just me that this happens to and I am using the XML site map. Xxx
Did you try using the broken link checker, I tried it before and it came back saying they were all from the http : from before we changed over to the https. I have gave up trying to sort them now as they only seem to show up to us as opposed to people looking at our sites. I did have 25 at one point, and like yourself they drove me daft.
Hope you are managing to tear yourself away from Still Game lol. xxxx
Yah I did the broken link checker... no broken links! Haven't had a chance to watch those boys for a while!
Yeah, they are really annoying though Randy and I hate seeing them come up. Well if these are driving you nuts then you can relax and destress by watching Still Game.
I left you a pm the other day. Say hi to Patty for me and hope you are both doing ok. xxxx
I think that the majority are just viewers entering bad URLS! Not much you can do about that I reckon!
Randy, What sitemap plugin are you using if I may ask? I am using
Xml Sitemap and everything is done automatically.
Ken
Hi there Ken, I use AiOSEO but I don't use a plugin. Seems like it get continuous 404's and I assume they're generated when the bots crawl my sitemap!
I may have to go back to using XML Sitemap.
Here is a good primer!

Thank Mike, I know how to fix them but I'd like to be able to prevent them. Would you happen to know anything about that?
Much obliged.
This forum can help shed light on the issue! http://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/preventing-google-crawl-errors-on-files-and-folders/
There was only one guy asking the question and no one had answered it from back in March.
Thanks anyway Michael
No, I'm sure not... maybe I should, ey Mike?
Does it actually prevent 404 URL Crawl Errors? Thanks partner!
I am not sure if it prevents the 404 URL crawl errors. I set mine up early and have never received a 404 URL crawl error.

Have you re-submitted your sitemap on occasion? Especially if you have fixed a lot of 404 errors in one go. It's a good idea to resubmit the sitemap afterwards. I'm using Yoast so it's easy enough. Alanna
No, I sure haven't Alanna. I'll do that right now. Great idea... thank you so much!
Glad to be of help, DoubleTap! :D
