Advice to Newbies

Like many members of WA I am working a full time job while trying to learn the skills I need to build my own profitable website here at WA, so that I can QUIT my full time job! I was very motivated my first two weeks here; excited, focused, determined, and eager to get through my lessons so that I could get my site up and running...but then week three happened and all hell broke loose. Lol!

I was involved in a fender bender, my computer crashed, and my bills totaled more than my income. Any extra time I had to spend working on my site came to a screeching halt...(wish it would have been my CAR that would have come to the screeching halt, but noooooo!)

My bills had to wait. Getting my computer fixed was a no brainer--computer + website = new life. So obviously, it's now fixed and I am looking forward to catching up on my lessons!

I have only been a member of WA for a little over 3 weeks, but after the horrendous week I had, I can honestly say I can offer words of wisdom to the newest members of WA--So here goes:

To all of you who are just starting out on your journey here at WA, know that this is an opportunity of great potential, a wonderful community of amazing individuals to connect with, plethora of information to assist you, blogs to inspire you, however, LIFE is going to happen and you must not lose your motivation when it does!

First and foremost...work on your website! This is your ticket to financial freedom! Making connections to other members and building your network is wonderful and an important part of the process. Reading and posting your own blogs can be encouraging and provide important information. Assisting others and asking questions is also a vital part of the equation in this community. However, these very things can also distract you from the most important task at hand--your lessons!

Put everything into perpspective--prioritize your goals!!! Set aside a specific amount of time for all of the above, a small amount of time, so that you are not keeping yourself from the very thing that is going to give you MORE time and freedom... because LIFE happens and you don't want to feel overwhelmed about getting back to work on your site when it does!

I wish everyone luck on your new venture! To those of you who I have not yet responded to with kind words of thanks for your follow...I thank you now and will return your follow with gratitude. But for now...it's time to get back to work!

Namaste!

"LIFE is going to happen..." When it does... Find A Way.
You have, and you will continue to, because your eye is on the prize.

You've got that right Phil! Now, to just get my HANDS on it! Lol!

Good advice. Life DOES happen but the good thing about WA is you can work around it. Not so much with 9-5s. ~Debbi

Thank you all for your encouraging words and support! I feel very blessed to be part of such an amazing group of people. Sending Big hugs to you all! xxxooo!

Excellent advice, Dorie. I'm so sorry you had to go through the crap this week, though. Hopefully, the car will be back to life soon! Just keep moving forward, even if it's only in baby steps.

Very good advice and yes there will be challenges on the way but in the end it is for your benefit and it can be done.. glad you got everything sorted now

Well said and I absolutely agree with you.

To build your own online business isn't done over night and if you want to be successful with it, you have to invest time, effort, hard work, sweat and learn from trial and error.

The community here gives you the well needed support and help. Posting blog posts here not only benefits the readers, it also benefits yourself. You get skilled in writing content, you lose your shyness and before you know it, this task has become one of your favorites things to do. Writing content is an essential ingredient your online business needs if you want it to be successful.

Setting goals is a must. You need something to focus on. Something you can thrive for. Don't quit, no matter how hard your journey is. It's when things seem worst, you must not quit. :)

Try and fail. Without failure, you can't succeed.

Keep it up, Dorie and never quit. Only those who quit won't reach their goals and therefore won't be successful. :)

All the best,
Nicole

Good things do take time and the rewards truly outweigh the hard work put in.

It takes time to build a business. Rome was not built in a day.

I like your attitude Dori. That was quite an obstacle to overcome. I appreciate your words of wisdom because I am a newbie and like you I got caught in all the distractions that you mentioned. However in the last few days I have also concentrated more on lessons and website. On and upwards we go ;-)

Whew! I'm wishing you some good luck! M
