So they are not lost. Perhaps you have to enable them. Please check if this helps: How to enable comments in WordPress pages If this does not help go back to the old theme or try anther.
This has been done. I also went in, unapproved, approved again. to no avail. I was hoping not to have to go back to the old them. I appreciate your help.
In Wordpress, Settings > Discussion > Automatically close comments on articles older than XX days to longer than what it says now, say 120 days instead of 90 days.... Even the option box is not checked.
This logically doesn't make sense, but it worked for me (WA support advised me to do this)....
Of course it may not work for you, but just another idea to try...

I suggest first a change back to the theme you had and make sure your comments are actually there. Perhaps you can then do a search on Google asking if others experience a problem with the theme you changed to. It would be odd if you are the only one.

apologies in advance for what's probably going to be a long post.
regarding my niche...I love music, listen all the time, play classical piano, learning guitar, can't live w
You site isn't just about making money. Informing and helping your reader is (should be ) your main focus. You already noted where you can monetize (including the books on the more scientific side).
So the posts on the "scientific will be informational, with a few sprinkled links to your other pages promoting more of the money making products you showcase.
Does that make sense?

yes, that makes sense, but I'm still unable to find any similar type sites when I search google so I'm having trouble leveraging any sites for the purposes of setting up/formatting content.
If you can't find other sites within your niche try looking at a niche that is closely related. For instance, music is within the artistic scope. So is performing arts and creative arts. You might try looking at websites in those niches.
Hope that makes sense.

I wouldn't use Askimet, it's rubbish. Check out my blog Do you need a spam blocker? and even now I still don't get spam!
I totally agree, Lady May, I wouldn't waste my time with Askimet. It wasn't even one of my defaults either.
As far as I am aware the WPSpamShield is now being used in place of Akismet.. so do not worry about that one now,,,

Chris Akismet Plugin - The Dark Side of Greed.
I should correct my original post - I tried to install CAPTCHA but it wouldn't let me since I'm not Premium - any thoughts about fixing this issue?
If you install the new wp spam-shield listed in the above link you won't need the captcha plugin :)
Yes, if you scroll down the comments on the page posted here. Akismet Plugin - The Dark Side of Greed. Kyle says you can do away with Captcha. That's exactly what I've done and everything is running fine
