I'm trying to install a plug in,tweet like google+ share. I go to my site dashboard, down the side menu and click plugins. It goes to a page of pictured plug ins. I go and type

I'm trying to install a plug in,tweet like google+ share. I go to my site dashboard, down the side menu and click plugins. It goes to a page of pictured plug ins. I go and type
Click on add plugin then when that window opens on the right side you will see a search bar type in there and hit your enter key
I did that Tommy...there is no "search" tab to click....it's not there...where is it. There is no way to search for new plug ins on that "new plug in page. What the heck is going on? I've had nothing but problems in having wordpress work out.
Wait................I reread your comment. You said hit the enter key? What the heck!. Why isn't there an explanation somewhere on the damn page that say's that! Sometimes this is beyond frustrating. A simple little nuance like that has just made a blood vessel explode in my head. There could be a caption somewhere on the page that say's that but, nnnooooo. I'm spending entirely too much time trying to figure this crap out. Many parts of the "lessons" are out dated and parts do not pertain to anything anymore, yet they are still in the lessons "without" relevance. Why? rehtorical, don't answer, I'm letting off steam because I'm wasting my time with this stuff.
The "enter" key worked Tommy. Thanks for listening to an old man rant. I'm calm now, blood pressure is down and I don't see red anymore. Life is good once again.

Thanks Christa. That was an interesting video. It didn't answer my question though. There is incomplete information in the tutorials so I spin my wheels trying to figure this stuff out. This was fun and interesting, up to a point. Now it just frustrating and I'm having second thoughts. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
It you haven't been able to find your answer and you can not find the answer in the search bar at top then I suggest you pm one of our more experienced members like Leoemery or Nathaniel or MissionOps, or anyone else you may have in your network that has experience with Amazon. They will be more then happy to help you!

I've signed up for an amazon affiliate. I've filled out the tax info and the payment option. I have received my amazon affiliate ID. Do I have to have the API in order to promot
The problem with Amazon is that they insist on getting their own graphics on your site and you have zero flexibility for promotion. You can't send an email blast or use any other method of promotion. Compensation is touch and go. Some do well on Amazon - if you promote it intensely and exclusively, you probably can too..
when you log on to the affiliate section, which you will find at the bottom of the home page, you can go to banners. they all have your affiliate code embedded on them already. you can then start promoting. you can start by putting a banner on your website/blog
Amazon has full information on affiliate procedures, in its affiliates section. Personally, I'm not a great fan of Amazon, although I'm routinely affiliated. I don't think it's worth spending a lot of time on.
You do not need API to promote amazon. That's some web stuff to integrate Amazon into your website.
All you need are the html codes they give you, and/or the links.
Nathaniell, I exited from all of that and went to amazon .com I searched for a metal detector and was able to see the HTML code, which is about 5 or 6 lines. I did not see anywhere to just get a link for it. That doesn't apply to amazon? Is it just the huge HTML code that needs to be put somewhere in the page on my site? if so, what page and where is it placed?
This is what I do to get a direct link:
1. I search/find the product I'm looking to promote
2. Click on the top left menu where it says "Link to this page"
3. In the "Customize and Get HTML" window, I click "text only" and then click the hyper link in the preview box (box #2).
4. This link opens up a new page-- this is the url that I use that has my affiliate id in it
5. Copy the link in your web browser and use that to link text or images to amazon from your site.
Thank you bella. Sorry if I sounded like I was giving up. This is the kind of up dated info I feel needs to be in the lessons, and it isn't. I have never linked before, this is the first time, I'm just trying to understand the process, because what you see in the lesson isn't what you see for this amazon task and for an old goat like me, I need it spelled out. I think I know what Helen Keller must have felt and I can see, but I'm blind to what I see. Thanks again
No worries, I know it can be very frustrating. I was actually thinking of doing a training on the way I link stuff to amazon. I like using links rather than HTML too. Just keep at it and you'll be sure to see results. Taking a break or 2 helps clear your mind too. :)

Hmm, it's been a while since I signed up, but I know I definitely didn't need an API in order to promote their products.
Product Advertising API is for advanced users who want developers to integrate Amazon products directly into your website.
I think when I signed up I was able to start using links right away, but I could be wrong, they may need to approve your application first. Someone who's done it recently will probably comment and help you out.

Thanks for trying to help Tommy, but that wasn't it. I can't even get to the home page for amazon, don't know what the problem is. I'm having to spend too much time figuring this stuff out, which is not helping my self motivation to keep doing this. I feel the lessons while good in general are not complete with all the info needed to complete the tasks. There are a number of the lessons that need updating. Things change I understand, but without all the information you need to start and finish a task, why bother. I've been at this for a couple of hours now and I feel I'm no farther along than when I started. Thanks again for teying to help
