How to download website content to transfer to another host?
Last time I transferred a domain, the place I was transferring to handled all that. I just had to give them permission.
There are some issues that arise from transferring to another host and they'd be the same if you downloaded everything. Sometimes things get misplaced, if not lost.
On the other hand, if the site you're transferring FROM is a siterubix (free) site, I'd gamble you can't transfer it to another host.

If your site is not too big then use this plugin Full Backup With a Plugin It fails in about 10% of cases, usually on sites that are over 2GB

I have a plug in that i'm trying (Social Contact) and it installs initially, but somehting is blocking it from allowing me to access it completely. I say something is blocking

My first thought is that another plugin is blocking the Social Contact plugin. I suggest you disable the other plugins one at a time and see it that makes a difference.
If that doesn't reveal the problem, contact SiteRubix support and open a support ticket.
That was my thought also... I disabled one plug in that I thought might be doing it but it didn't help. When I have time maybe i'll try to disable more. Thanks.
I would contact support here at WA and see what they say about it. I know they were blocking some social plugins

What would block a plugin from installing correctly?
