No more Amazon for me

As of October 7, 2013, The fine state of Maine has been included in Amazon's list of states that if you reside there, you are automatically prohibited from participating in the Amazon affiliate program. I have been an Amazon associate for several years and I do not recall receiving a notice from Amazon informing of this change. Shame on Amazon as I shall limit my personal shopping there as well. Following is the wording of the section of Amazon's terms and conditions that relate to this dated October 7, 2013:

“In addition, if at any time following your enrollment in the Program you become a resident of Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, or Rhode Island, you will become ineligible to participate in the Program, and this Operating Agreement will automatically terminate, on the date you establish residency in that state. In addition, you must promptly notify us in writing of your Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, or Rhode Island residency, which you may do via the Contact Associates Customer Service form available here.”

So, if anyone resides in any of the eight states mentioned above, don't plan on affiliating with Amazon.

Very strange!

I have never understood the reason for this. Really weird that someone in the USA can't be affiliated.
