How Do You Compete With Other Affiliate Marketers Who Are More Established?

This is a question that I was asked recently. It is a great question and one that I am sure everyone starting out might ask themselves. And if they are focused on this business as a competition that in itself might dishearten anyone from even giving this business a second thought. I never really gave this question much thought before. Maybe that is because I am not a competitive person. That does not mean that I don't care if I have success and I am not trying to be flippant when I answer this question. Because of the uniqueness of the affiliate marketing business and our own individual approach to building our websites we should not have to feel that we are competing with anyone. How I answer that question might seem strange and appear like I don't care if I have success. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The truth is I don't worry about trying to compete with established marketers. There are several reasons for my viewpoint on this question. Mainly because the only person I feel competitive with is myself and my drive to learn new things and pushing to have success in whatever I am trying to achieve. The challenge is to not let anything hold me back from achieving success.

4 Reasons for my viewpoint on this question

    1. The first reason is that we all have our own way of learning something, applying what we learn and in turn explaining or teaching what we have learned. So with that in mind when we are writing content for our website what we write and how we write it won't appeal to everyone. But it will appeal to those that are similar to us in communication styles and learning styles. These are the ones that will relate to what we put in our articles and eventually be affected by what we write.

    2. I don’t look at marketers that promote the get rich quick, look at what I have (fancy car and big house) as an example to follow, as I feel they do not represent this business in an honest, realistic manner and take advantage of people. With that being said the next reason I don't worry about competing is I look at the more established marketers as models to follow. For example, I look at what they are writing about as these are obviously things that people are searching for answers to. So I will be writing articles that answer those same issues or questions etc. and I will make sure that what I write is unique to me. I always run it through a plagiarism checker to make sure it is unique content before I submit the article. Google looks for that and those kinds of articles rank. I use this free program to check grammar, spelling, and plagiarism https://smallseotools.com. Once I have answered the question in my writing and learning style there will be someone with a similar learning style to mine that will be able to relate to what I wrote. So I just concentrate on writing unique content addressing the same questions that the more established marketers are answering. So once my website starts to generate traffic I will have content that resonates with someone that has a style similar to mine.

    3. When I visit websites I try to learn from them. I ask myself what annoys about a website and what motivates me to take action or feel good about visiting that website. I know there will be others that react the same way as I do, so I am trying to build my website with that in mind as it will also eventually appeal to someone else.

    4. For now, I am just trying to apply the wonderful training from Wealthy Affiliate and maintain my determination to keep working hard on my website and being patient as anything worthwhile takes time and hard work. If I do these things I am confident that I will build a successful business. I applied these same principles when I started selling on eBay years ago. I studied what power sellers were doing, how they wrote their ads etc. Then, I would apply those things to my ads and within 1 year I was able to become an eBay Powerseller myself. So I am confident these same principles will also help me to have success in this new business endeavor.

    5. Most importantly, I believe we make our own success with a lot of hard work and determination to stay focused on our plan for success. As long as I make sure to do something in line with my plan every day it is only a matter of time and I will have success.

    In Summary

I encourage everyone who is thinking about starting an affiliate marketing business to not look at it from the viewpoint of being in competition with other more established marketers but just focus on building it from the perspective of being unique from everyone else. As there will always be someone who will be interested in what you have to say.

Wishing you success in all your business.

Hello Dawn. A very real second post. Speaking from experience, when I first started off here at WA, I felt the pressure to perform and to compete. Then I realised that my only competition is me. I took my time to do the training and set up my website. I try to blog and post to my website at least once per week as my full-time job permits. Slowly but surely you get there. Thank you for sharing and reiterating to other newbies that there's no race to the finish line here. It's about support and building a community of like-minded people. All the best.

    Maria

Thanks all the best to you as well.

Hi Dawn, just curious as to why the fonts are smaller and all in bold? Not criticizing but want to inform you that it is hard to read as a senior citizen. I had to use magnifying app and zoom to read it. All black bold hard to read for some people and some are not bothered by it. Others write in all CAPS which people claim is like shouting. That shouting I cant hear, I am Deaf. I use my eyes 👀 a lot more than people who can hear. Most of us bloggers don't type all in bold only for headlines or for small bold statements that needs attention. It would be helpful to think about all types of readers here. You want your readers to be able to see what you write and that it is not hard to read.

Competition is not new this is why it's important to set your value proportion or your unique selling proposition to set yourself apart from other competitors. We see them in advertisements all the time, that's how they brand their business.

You’ve done the homework. That's important and sets you different from other competitors out there.

Great job on encouraging new people who join this business. It's true, that it shouldn't stop one from building their business due to competition.

Thanks, BrendaMZ. I am still trying to figure out the font and headings etc. Not sure yet how to make the font larger. I have not blogged before so I wasn't aware of how my writing comes across. I hope I can fix it to make it easier to read. Thanks for drawing my attention to that. I do appreciate that you still took the time to read my post even when it was hard to read. I really value your input it was very helpful.
Thank you so much and I hope you have a great day !

Thanks so much for changing it now it's much easier to read. You are welcome. Now your blog is comfortable reading for my 👀 thank you! Its a learning experience for all of us. Thats why we are here to help other members. I think the fonts cant be changed on WA- its standard I think for all uniformly. Tip for you: What I do is type mine in MS Word using the standard typeface font Times New Roman 12 or 14 then I save my WA blog article. Open WA blog and copy and paste. That worked well for me. Any word processor can be used.

Thanks that is a great tip. I am going to give it a try on my next blog. I appreciate all your tips and help. You are awesome.

Good points Dawn, like you I'm competitive only with myself, if I compared to the successful marketers it would bother me, and I don't want to be bothered, to much to get done.

Thank you. Yes that is a good point, it could bother us so much it becomes a distraction from accomplishing things with our business. Hope you have a great day and continued success in all your business endeavors.

    Great post. Thanks.
    Nina
