Are you Following the Steps?
Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path!
This is the first sentence in the AA " How it Works" before each meeting.
I was thinking about my journey of 19+ years through sobriety and how it totally relates to this program as well.
We follow the people who have done it before us. Learn from them what they did right and what they did wrong. We learn from their Experience, Strength, and Hope. The blogs, lessons, and training is WA way of doing this.
If they " I " have the capacity, to be honest.
This is a little further down –
- Am I honest to myself?
- Am I taking the advice?
- Am I willing to do what it takes to get the Life I want?
- Am I willing to put the work in?
Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point. - At the beginning of my sobriety, my sponsor would pound this into me every time I meet with him. - But in reality, this is life and this is WA, If I don't put the full effort into what WA offers I will not get anything out of it.
At the end of the Promises of AA it states:
Sometimes Quickly, Sometimes slowly - but they will always materialize if we work for them.
The AA promises have come true for me over the years - mostly slowly - but they have materialized.
Early in my sobriety, I worked every day, sometimes hours or minutes to keep from putting Alcohol or a drug into my system, but as I worked the Program it got easier and easier every day. The more work I put into it the more I get out of the program.
How does this all relate?
I need to trust the program ( WA ) and the people doing it. Put down the fears that are holding me back - Which most of them are me lying to myself.
I need to give it full attention - no more half measures. - No more a little bit here or there.
- Work the program every day as if my life depended on it.
- I realize it is hard at first - But I do know, it will get easier and it will pay off.
- PS Why does this writing program freak out? Tried H3 some of the headings and all is h3, did the points up above and everything is points now. Tried to write the blog on word and copy it over and did not copy over in the style.
