Leveraging What You Have, To Get More

As a writer here at Wealthy Affiliate, I have been working consistently on my site for only about 2 and a half months now. I have seen a few sales of products and a few bucks in ad revenue but nothing too substantial to pay the bills. This isn't a bad thing since it's only been a few months and my numbers are still growing as I get the hang of all the tools available to me. In order to increase my monthly income however, I started to utilize what I learned here, elsewhere!

Building an online portfolio

My website is all about professional development and growth. Articles range from writing better resumes to tips on starting your own business and I decided there was no better way to make myself an authority than to dive right in! I started working freelance jobs as a copywriter at other sites, using my own site to boost my resume. When people see you have experience as a published writer who generates their own traffic, you can be a perfect candidate for so many jobs!

Affiliate marketing is my full time job right now and freelance writing is a side gig. Funny enough, right now I'm making more at my side gig but learning valuable trade tricks from people who have developed their website to huge sucesses! Not only that but I can write in the same niche as my own site, giving me more ideas for articles and reviews to do there, which will give me more traffic. Having connections in the online business world is always a good thing for growth, and this puts me in direct contact with professionals outside of the WA community!

The hours add up, but so does the cash

For my website I write 4-5 researched articles/reviews a week which takes about 8-10 total hours for me to do with research, proof reading, and writing. 8 total hours a week is nothing just for content on my site. I spend about 12 total hours on my writing for freelance gigs (for now), and it nets me an extra $1150 a month. Being able to leverage my site's content to get me better paying jobs as a freelancer is a no-brainer that I think other beginners should try if they want to do this full time.

It's a fantastic way to improve your writing, learn SEO best practices, and build your network for just a few more hours of writing a day. Obviously that means you're working more of a full time job online than part-time but if you're reading to take the plunge, all you need to do is look! Many people here at WA outsource articles or have connections that do. I personally use Writers Work to find my freelance jobs since that's the platform I used before WA.

I hope my words reach some people who might be struggling to make money with this program because this has changed my whole outlook on what I've been doing the past few months.

Happy hunting and happy holidays everyone!

Congratulations on your awesome achievements. Best wishes in you going forward

You've implemented a perfect plan and it's wonderful to see it working. Though not everyone is blessed with your writing skills, most can work hard to create informative articles and follow your success.
