It's easier when you're passionate!

Having left WA last summer I recently returned and I have learned the above statement to be very true! I joined WA in summer 2013 and loved it from the start. Unfortunately I had to leave temporarily (fully intending to return) as I got a new job last May and just didn't have the time!

However, it wasn't just that... I was also getting truly SICK of my old website... and that's a major problem. My niche was something I was an authority on, but not something I was really interested in or passionate about... writing posts became a CHORE and that shouldn't be the case. I think if you're truly passionate about something it should come easily! (but not without hard work of course...)

I am a musician and that is my main passion. I always intended to do a music based site eventually, but wanted to think carefully about what form this would take. I don't particularly want to write about music, I just want to listen to it and play it! With that in mind I decided to start a blog type site with videos of me playing music.

Now I find contributing to my site a lot easier because I'm doing something I really enjoy and I'm being creative. So, even though I still have the same time constraints imposed on me by my job, I am able to contribute to my website and continue with WA training because its something I am passionate about. It wasn't just that I didn't have the time before- I lacked the time and the passion... When you're passionate you make the time!

Thanks for reading. If you've read this far, let me tell you about my new site and my progress so far as I could use some advice!

I've just finished course 2 (for the second time!) and I'm going to concentrate on building out more content and getting more traffic before thinking too much about monetization.

My site essentially boils down to being a glorified YouTube channel. Its more or less a landing page for my YouTube channel, except that its mine... Hopefully this will make it seem more professional than simply having a YouTube channel alone and also opens up more ways to get traffic and further potential revenue streams.

At the moment the format consists of a video and then a few paragraphs underneath. I don't know whether I am making a mistake in having smaller posts under my videos. I want the focus to be on the videos not on the writing, so I just want to have a small piece of writing and not ramble on and on. However, I know that longer posts tend to rank better. I'm hoping the videos will make up for this. What do people think?

There is always the potential for me to write some reviews or some longer informative written posts as well if I decide to go in that direction.

Here is my site if anyone wants to take a look! www.sonofdjango.com

Thanks and good luck to everyone else!
