Born Again Christian As Defined by Pastor Frank

Last Update: September 29, 2014

To be a born again Christian is to genuinely delight in our Lord. We understand that delight and faith are blessedly united so the gates of Hell can't separate them. We don't fear God because of any obligation, our faith doesn't restrain us, our profession of faith is no bondage to us, we aren't dragged into holiness or driven to duty. Our piety is our pleasure, our hope is our happiness and our duty as a Christian is our delight. This is the reality of someone who is truly a born again Christian. It can't be faked or misinterpreted because it is who we are as a person. Our real enjoyment is in our Godly pursuits such as reading our Bible, praising our Lord in prayer, worshiping Him through contemporary Christian music and in the simplicity of sharing our faith with others. Now this is the deep personality traits of a True Born Again Christian and I am proud to be one!

I agree with Pastor Frank's assessment. I would add that the reason we can "genuinely delight in our Lord" is based upon our understanding that our salvation is a free gift, which we can neither merit nor earn, but need merely accept/receive (Ephesians 2:8-9). Whereas other religions focus on what mankind must do in order to reach God or Nirvana or a state of "perfection", Christianity is all about what God has done through the substitutional sacrifice of his only Son to reconcile mankind to Himself. This is Good News (i.e., "Gospel") to imperfect human beings like myself.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. ~John 17:3
