My journey thus far
Hello my fellow WA friends!
Just thought of sharing my experience so far and it is nothing short of pure ecstasy, to say the least.
Funny thing is I am expressing this excitement, before even starting to earn. But then life is not only about materialistic gains. Yes, we all need money to survive and no denial, but then if you can do that with joy & fulfillment, that's gonna be a long lasting prospect.
After working in many companies nothing has come close to the kind of satisfaction building my own website has given me. When I look forward to every day with sheer cheer to do what I do currently, I know I am doing something right, I know I am in the right path, I know success is just around the corner and I know the commitment comes naturally.
The reason I haven’t earned still is I haven’t added any affiliate links yet and I am totally fine with it as there are good reasons for that. My plan first, is to see how much traffic I can generate first. There is still a lot of work to be done, but once I see enough traffic I will be adding the affiliate links and other ads if I feel necessary.
Because I personally feel if I add links after getting constant traffic the rest of the work is going to be much easier since I’ve done the difficult part which is generating traffic. The other thing guys some affiliate companies expect you to make a sale at least within 3 months once you get enrolled. So if you don’t have much traffic to generate sales that’s not going to make a good impression to the affiliate companies. Besides that, creating a good content base (which of course needed to create value & traffic) for your site before trying to market will also give a good impression.
Anyway, I am delighted the way my site has come about so far and anxious to see where I would stand, by end of this year.
If I am to give a piece of advice, it is totally fine to take a bit of time to decide a good niche. Don't get into a niche just because a majority are doing it, if you're not going to enjoy creating content for that niche in the long term.
Let's face it, you're in it to win it and not for the short term! If you find a good niche which you're passionate about & has potential, then as Kyle says you only need one site to succeed and makes it much easier working towards an authority site (which should be the ultimate goal!)

I totally love your outlook: "is not only about materialistic gains [,it's about] joy & fulfillment" It's great that you're aiming to increase your traffic and see what people are interested in on your site(s). I'm sure it will help you figure out what people want, making it easier to find the right affiliates.
I also like that you're not recommending everyone jump on the popular niche bandwagons. My feeling is that it's important to be trustworthy and authentic. Some of the popular niches aren't a part of who I am. Probably wouldn't work well for me.
