Amazon Links and Social Media
So, do you share Amazon affiliate links on social media platforms?
Did you know that they have specific terms and conditions relating to social media?
Have you ever wondered why you have never received sales or commission through your links on social media?
Let's take a look at the rules.
First of all, add your social media profiles to your Amazon account.
This is an absolute must-do.
In the same way that you need to add each of your websites to your Amazon account, adding your social media profiles is a requirement and is done through your Account Settings.
Next, Facebook groups.
You may be surprised to learn this rule - you have to be the owner/moderator of the Facebook group, and it must be set to public viewing.
Adding Amazon links to somebody else's group or to a group that is set to private is not permitted.
Now, identify yourself as receiving a commission.
In the same way that you need a disclosure on your website, it is also necessary on your social media account.
On your "about" page or profile page on social media, you need Amazon's standard disclosure phrase as follows:
“As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”
And the actual affiliate links must be flagged, typically by adding a hashtag such as #ad.
And what about paid ads or boosted Facebook posts?
No, that's not allowed either.
Finally, you cannot ask other people to share your links on their social media pages.
Just to make all this clear, the above rules only relate to adding an actual clickable affiliate link on social media.
If you add a link to a post on your website that contains the link, then the above do not apply.
This information has been collated from the Amazon Associates Resource Center, and I don't have any further knowledge on the subject.
If you have any questions, you will need to contact Amazon.

Thanks Diane for this valuable info. Though I have already included facebook and IG as my other website source when setting up my associate account.
But at Level 4 of OEC we are tasked to also create twitter and Pinterest.. so i guess i need to update my amazon associate account.
