Excellent Diana, I know you will achieve your goals. As you start seeing more progress and results, you will be able to spend more time on your business.

When I started out online, I had limited time because I was in school full time and I was able to achieve "full time" status within the online business world in a year. I totally understand that we all have "time" issues in life, but I absolutely know you can do the same and accomplish the same sort of success!

Take action on the training here, immerse yourself within the community, and ask for help when you need it. This is your sure path to your own personal goals and successes Diana! :)

Morning everyone! An currently working on Level 3 Training.

Was approved for 1 NEW affiliate program specifically for my WA site and incorporated those which allowed me to "add a site" such as Chicory for my recipes.

Figured I would submit my site to Adsense as well. The review came back today and the answer is NO but for the oddest of reasons: no content and duplicate content plus misleading information.

In short... this is their comment > We’ve found some policy violations on your site which means your site isn’t ready to show ads yet.

Valuable Inventory: No content
As stated in our Program policies, we may not show Google ads on pages or apps with little to no value and/or excessive advertising until changes are made. This includes hosted ad pages or pages or apps without content.

Now I realize that I do not have 100 posts but those posts I do have are original content, No duplicate content and definitely no pages without any content. I was approved on my other sites for less than this.

As for excessive advertising, I have Amazon, Awin, and Bluprint from ShareASale.

Could you all take a quick peek at my site http://cassoletterecipes.com to see what is "missing" or wrong per Adsense policies? Because I am supposedly also displaying prohibited and misrepresentative content. If they are going to throw all things related to recipes into the "shocking content" category then I am up the proverbial creek without a paddle!

To say that I am nonplussed is an understatement.
Thanks all! :-)

I went into the site to have a look and it's completely blocked on my computer!!!

Not sure what to tell you or how to help you. Sorry.

You're correct! This is what I now see even tho I just looked at it minutes ago. about:blank#blocked but when I open it through my bookmark, it is still there. No idea what's going on! Update: fixed it. I removed the https

Hi - regardless of their stated reasons, you would have been turned down anyway, as you only have six articles and they expect to see dozens and be a well-established site with lots of traffic.

As regards excessive advertising - you do have a lot of affiliate links. For example, in your potato recipe, you have 9. You should only have 1 for every 500 words, and this post has just under 1000 words. Your French Comfort Food also has 9 in 1000 words.

As regards duplicate content, I notice on your Pinterest page, that where you have reproduced some of the recipes, the introduction to them is exactly the same as on your website.

I wouldn't worry, to be honest, it doesn't make a lot of money and clutters up your website. You could always apply again if you wished.

Hmmm...it's telling me your IP address is invalid. Not sure how @DianeScorpio was able to view it!!

I searched Google for cassoletterecipes.com !!

I tried that and all I got was epicurean recipes, bon appetite, food network, etc.
How weird!!

Click on the link I have put in my reply to you, that should work.

It's there. I removed the https from the link in my original post and it has come up each time. :-) Perhaps your computer has flagged it as "gruesome" content :-) Kidding. As I mentioned elsewhere, if a pic of a whole chicken roasting in a pan constitutes gruesome content, then I am in trouble.

Thanks for your comments Diane! I will remove a few links but at that rate, affiliate sales are going to be a long time coming. There are so many differing opinions on this topic. :-)

I have had another thought - your links which say "Buy from amazon.com" with an arrow. Are they official? Usually, when you get text + image from Amazon, it doesn't look like that, it has the price embedded in the link.

Diane - It's the product display from EPD. Works on all my other sites without any problems now for years. Works with Amazon, ShareASale, and Zazzle.

Hi there,
People can't get to your link because the second parenthesis (after .com) is highlighted as part of your URL. I copied just the Url and it worked fine.
I don't understand what Adsense means by all that. Your site is lovely so far, though not too much content yet. And it could be that it's just too new as well.
I would give it a couple more months, then try again.
And sometimes duplicate content could mean duplicate within your site. Is any of the content on each page repeated on the others?
I hope this helps,
Suzanne

Thanks for letting me know about the link issue. Fixed it. Re Adsense, I was only going on the fact that they had approved me for another site within the same time frame. But I was more shocked by the reasons behind not "being ready for prime time" - I've been at it long enough not to use any type of duplicate content. And obviously, in recipes, ingredients and methods will necessarily be duplicated from recipe to recipes. I plan on changing the logo on my first pics. But there should be no reason to zero in on that either as the About me page says it all. Anyway. Adsense is pennies here and there. In any case, that is the least of my issues right now. If they consider my food pics to be gruesome - then I am in trouble. :-) Diana

I would certainly not expect them to approve a site which only has eight articles on it. I would try again when maybe there's 40+

Hi Carson! Thanks for the message. As usual, I am stuck trying to find a profitable niche related to at least one topic I have been working on since 2001 - custom knitting for costumes. Trying to find a niche that allows me to interlink between the established site and any new niche site. In the meantime, just working my way through the training. Cheers, Diana

Hi Diana, every niche can be profitable so I just want to make sure that it's not the NICHE that makes it profitable, its whether you understand that that niche is looking for and how you can offer them helpful information.

Here is a great blog post by Kyle that will help you better understand how to find a niche: Also, this post that explains the biggest 5 mistakes people make when choosing a niche. I think these will really help you!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Hi Kyle! Thanks for checking in :-) I currently have two niches I would like to expand on. One is more lucrative than the other but that is understandable. I am a custom knitwear designer. Took advantage of the Harry Potter fandom when it started and now continue with other custom made costume knitwear. Would costume knits yarn colors work as a new niche? I sell quite a bit of yarn thanks to the ongoing HP craze. Also, have free knitting patterns for those costume knits. The other niche is my 5-year-old food blog: Country French and Pennsylvania Dutch. Been trying to come up with a super niche in either of those topics but I am country French-born and raised so that is my passion. Am trying to focus on the food of a specific region in northern France - my neck of the woods. But I could also focus on Medieval recipes because that is squarely in my hometown. Game of Thrones and other similar Medieval, or fandom recipes? Would that work as a niche? Thanks, Diana

Your niche ideas are definitely viable directions for your niche. You need to choose one when starting out, what are you most passionate about?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience. After you do this and if you want to run any further ideas by me, let me know and I will give you a hand. :)
