In your face marketing-does this work?

Okay people, I am curious about something, do you review your sites objectively before you hit that publish button!

Lets compare your site to buying a new automobile! Does anyone really have a good feeling when you enter a dealership? Does your heart beat start racing? Do you tell yourself I am just looking? Do the folks at the dealership listen to you?

I DOUBT-IT, they are trained to observe you! They are trained to use keywords to sway you. They on the most part are aggressive, they income depends on that sale. "I DO NOT LIKE PUSHY SALESMAN/WOMAN"

So when you sit down at your computer please think about the layout, is it "IN YOUR FACE MARKETING" ? All those banners, and widgets, remind me of the big blow up dolls bouncing in the wind, the banners are like those flags tied to the light posts.

So My point is

think before you write

use the banners to make a point, not a maze

teach me something I do not know or I will not come back.

do not shout at me or I am out of here

be nice make this a better experience

Do not be a salesman, be a customer

If I seem to be ranting it is because I realized I have the power. I have bought a new car every year for the past 5 years. I know crazy right, wrong. I have listened to so many pitches and promises until I finally found a vehicle that was made for me. I have ended my search for now but took away several lessons. Please realize if you sell once, what does the customer have a reason to come back for, but if you give them something of value a reason to come back they will!!!!!!!!!

UGH, I agree. I hate "in your face" salespeople and car salesmen seem to be the worst especially trying to intimate women. You push, I back off, dig in my heels and will NOT buy. Good post.

Quite agree,am working on my posts to make sure they have good information, friendly and appealing, thank you

I agree David. Our websites should be conversational, not in your face. We should give our readers a reason to want to come back.

Hi David....You make a wonderful point here. I agree with you. The bottom line is no one likes a pushy person or *what feels like* a pushy website. :) Melanie

Ha, nice reply. Short answer, I lost my wife to cancer (please it is okay we had 30 years together) the point is I was at a point in my life trying to find something to give me joy. I really am a fan of cars/trucks and decided to try Ford, Chevy, GMC , and Toyota! So I am not a fan of leases another story for another day. I have purchased a Tundra with all the bells and whistle and bought it out right! I just love the comfort and style of this truck. I have paid off most of my bills in life and left the 10 hours a day grind of working for the man to pursue my dream of working from home. So no more autos for awhile! I found my ride, now I am putting the same effort into this new endeavor. I need to thank you by the way, you have already taught me a few things and for this I am grateful.
Sincerely,
David

I love this article, I used to be in luxury auto sales so I know exactly what your talking about. Though if you are getting a new car every year you may want to consider leasing instead of a purchase, lol
