No Traffic!

Maybe I'm a little, or very, impatient! I checked my "Google Analytics" and I've had a whopping 3 visit to my website that's be up for 3 weeks! And 2 of those visit's were mine!

I've done everything I was told to do in the training, in regards to SEO, so what's up! Could it possibly be the niche I picked? It's probably not a very popular niche, but it's the one I'm most passionate about. And I thought, according to the training, I was supposed to pick a niche I was most passionate about so I could write "quality" content about it.

I know, it takes time to build up traffic an all but I've read post here in the community that have had hundreds of visit's to their site in less time! It's rather discouraging to work so hard for not having anyone so much as even stop and look at my website.

Maybe I should pick another niche! But there's not many out there that I'm that passionate about! I see that most of the niche's that most everyone here builds a website about is, in one way or another, is "how to make money online". But I couldn't build a site about this niche, I obviously have no knowledge on the subject!

The niche I chose to write about is woodworking, and according to the Jaxxy keyword tool, it was a good niche to get into, pretty broad niche. I probably should of pick a better title for it. there where no searches for thedevoutwoodworker.com but I tried to use other pages like "woodworking tools", or "power tools", which have a rather broad search result.

I don't know! I would appreciate y'all's input here! Thanks for your time guy's!

I am going through the same thing...add content everyday...in week 3 and hardly getting any traffic to my site...It is hard to stay positve when you can'T see any change or any results...But I will keep persisting and keep moving....It will start happening soon

I'm going through the same thing Jim. Building up website, going through all the lessons, but less than 10 hits per day (and actually going down since last Friday). Going through course 4 (social networking). Hope something clicks. Been adding new content to my blog everyday http://firstcoasthealthypets.com.
Hope to make some money soon, or my membership here will be in jeopardy as yours was.

I hear ya! Thanks Joel!

Hi Jim.You have give me some encouragement when I needed it so now it,s your my turn to return the deed.I understand what you say about Analytics now and SEO but I have never looked up my stats since I started,I have been advised by different members to write, write and write good content and complete my site first.I do not know what else I could advise you for a niche but did you do any sports years ago that you liked and are knowledgable about.

Thanks Mark! Yea, believe it not, I surfed for about 18 years when I was young, from the time I was 12 to almost my thirty's, back in the late 60's through the seventies.

I surfed all over the world, Mexico, Costa Rica, Hawaii, California. and many other places! It's been so long ago though. I guess I could have an "oldies" site about surfing and what it was like way back when. I surfed with some of the "old timers" like Robert August and Mike Doyle years ago out in California.

Definitely some fond old memories! Will do some thinking about it. Thanks for the idea Mark, may have sparked an idea for me! I appreciate it!

As Shawn has said it really is a bit early to worry about traffic. I do have several concerns about your site.
1. Don't advertise WA at the bottom of some of your posts - it makes absolutely no sense to be there.
2. You need to ensure that you are offering your readers value. Offering them a post with three videos to watch with minimal content does not cut it. Tell them what's the benefit to them of the video - you don't really do that.
3. If you're having links to other sites - you need them to open up in a new page - to make navigation easier. Personally I wouldn't have a list like you have that draws them away from your site (but that's just my view) :) Beverley

Thank you Beverly, I sincerely do appreciate the constructive criticism! These are things I would not of been aware of. I'm reasonably new to all this and now that you have pointed them out to me, it makes sense! Adding content about the videos is an excellent point, I'll work on it! Thanks again!

Stick with what you believe in, that sounds like a great niche. It will take time, trust me my site has been up for 3 months, and I am now seeing traffic. It will happen for you I know it.

Thank ya buddy! I kind of thought it was a good one, only time will tell!

There is probably a problem with your google analytics account. Because I visit your site at least twice. Had a similar problem with one of my websites.

Could be Guy, I've heard that others having a similar problem! Thanks! Just very impatient! I'm working on that as well!

The content I write today will show me results in about a 3 to 4 week time frame, unless I get lucky and really nail a good keyword or a case of something going viral, etc...

That being said, I am basing the above on a page or post of content every other day, and this can be accelerated if I am not happy with my traffic numbers.

The more content, the more page one chances, and that leads to more traffic.

How much content have you got on the site and how often have you published it?

I tell new members like yourself that yes, it is OK to worry about traffic, but you need to worry more about using correct keyword research and and use them properly when writing good informative helpful content.

3 weeks is too soon to pass judgement, but it is not too soon to start tweaking.

Feel free to send me a link and I will see if I can help :)

I appreciate it Shawn, I try to add quality content at least every other day if not more. Here's the link to my site, I would appreciate your critique when you have time! Thanks a million!

OK> Some homework for you.

1.Get the wealthy affiliate and free website banners off the site. Do not promote anything not related to your niche, it confuses people and drives them right out the door.
2. Spaces between your text and the video boxes. Make it breathe
2. Change the color of the drop down menu. Red is a no no and you can not read the menus in the red.
3. Break up the text more in your paragraphs. Writing on the internet is a bit different than regular writing. Example: www.helppaydayloandebt.com

Start there and keep adding content. You have a great start but it is just that, a start. Now comes the fun part, maintaining it. LOL

Congradulations you are well on your way.
Do not make the mistake of giving up after all this hard work. :)

Shawn>>

You don't know how much I appreciate your help here Shawn! I sincerely DO appreciate it! I've tried changing the color of the drop down menus but could never find out where or how to do it! My thought was perhaps the theme will not allow it, or is there a plugin for this procedure.

I also tried taking off the banners earlier, but I actually forgot how I put them on! Tried to find the training video for it but no luck! It's late and I had class tonight, taking a Christian Mens Job Corps class in hopes of increasing my "Internet Wisdom"! I'm plum wore out! Will pick this up again in the morning! Thanks man!

Look for the banners in a widget, and get hold of Labman to help you change the color. It is in the coding.
If you need any help just PM me :)

Trialynn is right and I take her advice for myself too!

She's always right Phil, I routinely ask for her help and she always seems to have the right answer! I inevitably trust her knowledge. Thanks!

I think I will rename you devoutlyImpatient! It took Kyle over 2 months to get things going, why do we believe we should be able to do better than he did. Stay in your niche, and pick one subject from it to devote time to, be it tools or cabinetry. Pretend you are a customer and type the search words you would for a site on your niche into Jaaxy. She will give you lot's more ideas of words to use in your article writing. Become an authority, not a jack of all woodworking. Once you are known, then you can slowly expand.
I am terribly sorry because I know you need the finances, but you will not get lots of money here fast, unless by fluke. Keep believing God will take care of you and work as best you can!

I know honey, you're right as always! And of course I'm impatient, I'm a Taurus! A little bull headed wouldn't you say! And I wasn't expecting to make money so quickly, but I thought I'd at least have a little traffic! Thank you Terea! Will work on my patient's!

If it makes you feel better, when I check Analytics it says I have never had any visits at all when I know for a FACT that a few friends have been on and I have too. Hmm...

It does! Thanks!
