Just saw this while welcoming a new member to WA. What a deterrent. Please encourage new WA members to ignore whenever you notice it on their profiles.

Not the first thing you want to experience as soon as you sign up to WA.

Haa! I haven't seen one of these in years actaually! I thought by now everyone had a heads up on this one!

Geez! I can't imagine anyone falling for this!

2

There are always new fish to be caught, Cynthia.

1

I guess that is sad but true David! Yikes!

Thanks for letting us know they are still lurking about.

2

You are welcome!

1

You'll be surprised at who's still ready to give this sort of thing a shot, Cin.

Once a mate of mine lost some money over something similar. He never did it again :)

1

This guy Chris gets around...I just Spam-reported about a half dozen messages that he left...going back now to warn the members.

1

Yes, I doubt that's his real photo though.

1

Probably not...even mine wasn't taken yesterday...:-) Doesn't matter, though, I'm not here to hook up, I'm here to build a business...it is nice though, to build friendships along the way. Thanks for your post, by the way.

1

You are welcome!
Why does WA take so long to remove them though? This shouldn't be lying around here to distract and cause stress to new members especially.
Maybe we are giving them too much attention. The negative publicity can work to promote as well.
Hmmm

1

I discovered one a few minutes ago when I responded to a new member that Followed me...warned her about requests for email addresses...and, of course, I hit the spam button on his comment. Then I went to his profile page and on to the profile pages of the members he is following, and left messages.

Maybe it takes a certain number of spam hits to alert the right people.

1

Great job, Joe!
Maybe but every report should be monitored in real-time so that it wouldn't have to come to this. This is why some seasoned more available Ambassador should have the privilege to revoke.
I am also not aware of any tel # for WA's office to expedite.

David

1

i agree, it needs to be expedited. If they are reluctant to give an Ambassador that responsibility, maybe just expedient capability to contact Kyle/Carson.

1

You are right - it does take a certain number of spam hits to cause an alert.

2

I saw where several members had PM'd Kyle and didn't want to pile on, but I was slamming that Scam button on various messages like that arcade game Whack-A-Mole...:-)

2

:)

2

There was a time when I used to get emails of a similar nature. Of course, they all went 'in the thrash'.

1

What was your first experience after receiving one of these, James? Were you fooled :)?

1

Oh no...I could see right through it, David. Something like this, which is way too good for words, smells of scam from a mile away.

Didn't even bat an eyelid before the email was deleted :).

1

Yes, James but WA is too good for words too but no scam is it? :))

1

Good move David........I think he got some e-mail addresses.

Wayne

1

They always do, Wayne. That's why they are still carrying on with this after so many years.

1

I thought they’d given up on this rubbish!

Wayne

1

This stuff still deceives many, believe it or not. There is always someone who is ignorant of any fact at some point in time.

1

Wow! How sad! :-(

1

Yes, it is, Mishael!

1

Is there any way of removing this scammer??
Im sorry you experienced this David. Let's get this person out of our community, he's trying to take advantage of people's good will.

1

I am not too concerned about me, Aaron. I am more worried about the fact that it was on a new member's profile page. He only signed up today.

David

1

Yes!! That's what im worried about. I know that you wouldn't fall for this rediculous claim. I wouldn't want someone new joining and then being taken advantage of, or just thinking WA is not serious. Im with you David.

1

I believe most are already wary of this though but...
We want this to be removed ASAP and not linger around WA land this long. That should ideally take a few seconds to be investigated after being reported. Maybe WA can give some seasoned Ambassadors to ability/permission to deal with Spam as well.
That would speed things up for them.

1

That is a clever idea, provided they would be up to the task. I Know I wouldn't mind taking out the trash. Lol! Thanks for bringing awareness of this post to everyone's attention. And yes im sure most people are aware of this too. David, your a stand up guy. Thanks again, and have a great day! See ya around Buddy.
Your friend, AaronGriffin

1

All the best, Aaron. Likewise!

1

Scam alert! Scam alert!! Do not fall for this nonsense

1

Hey David, this joker is going right for the classic Nigerian scam. What a moron! Wow!
Hopefully, the nonsense will pass soon. We have better things to do with our time!
Best Regards,
Jim

1

I don't even think that the photo is authentic or the claim of being a barrister... It's just a part of the ploy to deceive.

1

I think the man from that picture is Amancio Ortega.

1

Wow that is quite a deceiving spam . Very well crafted it seems so genuine if you disclosed any further details. You are smart to bring it to attention , and we can learn the new form spam can disguise itself as.

1

Hi Shweta!
